I really have trouble staying awake. And I mean, ALL THROUGHOUT the day. I get enough sleep (8-9 hrs), but somehow I'm always tired and sleepy.

I don't drink soda (no Mountain Dew or Red Bull) for health reasons, and my mom is against my drinking coffee too much. Are there any other ways to stay awake?

Take a multi-vitamin
Your body may just be saying its not getting the proper nutrients.
I would take it before going to bed it allows your body to absorb it.
also have a full glass of water.it should help keep you hydrated and its good for your complextion.
stop thinking so hard about the stress in your day it will burn you out and make you tired faster-Just a mom hope it helps.
remember what your faviort thing to do as a kid and do it you might need a new outlet and are bored try somthing new you just may make a new friend to.

1st: do you sleep well at night? you may want to make sure w/a MD that everything is working properly while you sleep. (getting good REM, no apnea, etc)

2nd: avoiding caffeinated beverages is a good idea. the up is great, but the down is 2x+ worse than the up is good.

3rd: avoid sugary foods, especially in the am, but overall too. have fruit instead. the sugars in fruits provide a much more sustained amount of energy than the same calories of candy bar.
you don't say anything about nutrition. what you eat can have a HUGE impact on how you feel, not just immediately, but for the next day too.

4th: much of being 'tired' can be in the mind. if you are bored you are more likely to become sleepy. try to develop 'brain exercises' that you can do kinda half-thinking when you feel bored. they should be of interest to you and be active thoughts, not list building/rote.

good luck
