so i have a friend who has been cutting. there is ALOT of details that i cant and wont go through, anyway, i asked my dad what i should do. my dad started talking to someone one who is a Christian counserler and has delt with these things before. they BOTH decided to tell the pastor of the church my friends family goes to, and the pastor is going to tell my friends parents. im pretty sure that this is a good thing to do, but why do i feel like CRAP! i feel like i betrayed my friend, but im really worried about her. do u think i did a good thing, but getting her help. cause i know she needs help and her parents need to know WHY their daughter is cutting. the MAIN reason of why she started cutting is becuase her parents set CRAZY rules ALL the time. my friend is 19 years old, and she had to be back in the house by 10 pm on weekends, even though she goes to College, and she was just visitng her parents and friends over the christmas and new year holidays. do u think i did a good thing?

well, god bless you too, and no, you did not do a bad thing. i am dating a girl who used to cut herself. she doesn't anymore. she used to be really depressed, but now she is getting better. I'm glad that you went to your church and told them. anyone who cuts themselves does it because they don't feel like they're worth anything. by getting her in with a spiritual councilor, he/she can tell her that she means a lot to god, and as soon as that sinks in, she'll stop cutting. she might be mad at you for a bit, but when she gets better, she won't stop thanking you for the good thing you did.

Yes, honey, you did a good thing.
You feel like crap because you stuck your neck out alone and know that she is going to be mad at you a while. No one wants her friend to be pissed. Even if it is a good reason.
I think it speaks volumes about how brave and loving you are to do that. I would hope a daughter of mine who would be secretly cutting herself would have a responsible and loving friend like you. Thank you. You have helped her to stop being a statistic, and to get help. Hurrah for you!
She may cut for a long time, but you did what you can. She is ultimately in charge of herself, but you are a real friend.
You are not a busy-body or a snitch or any other mean thing you might think.
Her parents need to know they have a problem and are part of the problem. This is good information, especially if they are clueless.
I had strict parents, too, but I didn't cut any body/thing. I drank and had lots of sex. People react to stress in different ways. This is not a good way.
You did the right thing. Good for you.

i think you just did the right thing... of course she'll gets mad & feel like you betrayed her but still tell her that you mean well ... she'll probably won't understand at first but she'll eventually realize that all you wants is for her own good... her parents will get mad , sure of that but how will they straighten things up if they didn't know what's goin on... if the parents is really strict, tell your friend that instead of cutting classes, finish school so by the time she can stand on her own feet, she can move out & do what she wants...

oooo tough Yes you did a good thing, she may not think so in the begining but she'll thank you later...as far as blaming her parents for her cutting BULLSH---T!!!!!! My parents were VERY strict on me growing up....really i had a curfew forever and I never cut myself on purpose, it's her problem she has some kind of insecurity so.....you did a good thing just be there for her she probably not want to be your friend anymore but push for it don't give up on her she needs a friend like you in her life....good luck and God bless you too

If you feel you did the right thing and you think it will be a positive for her, then no matter what others say, you did a good thing. Ask yourself, if you were her, would you want her to do that for you? I think in the long run, you likely benefitted her. Good luck.

Yes, you did a good thing - you may have saved your friends life. While she may be mad to start with she will come to realize that you are a true friend to her. She needs help and you have started the process.

You did not betray your friend by saveing her life. Best to get her help now before she takes it to the next step and takes it to far so in my opion you did the best thing for her people needs more friends like your self. I think that your mind is in the right place, but you have to understand that she is of legal age to do almost anything that she wants to do. If you want to make it right, go directly to her and let her know that you think tht you may have made a mistake, but you did it because you care about what happens to her. That way she is mentally prepared when everybody comes swarming around her.

I have a feeling you did the right thing. You're friend needs someone to know how she's feeling and to talk with her. She just needs someone to lean on and to be able to explain her feelings.

it was the right thing to do
but if she keeps cutting then i don't think theres a lot more you can do
you might be able to tell her what might happen if she continuse cutting
it might help
