Haha calling people on here geeks isn't a very good strategy for getting good answers. But you'll need at least a Pentium 4 with 1 Gig of memory and at least 150Gigs of hard drive space. That's all you really need to know when looking for a computer, especially for you, someone who seems as if they rarely use it for anything other than the everyday things such as music, movies and a few games. Pentium 4's don't run for too much right now, but you'll still be looking at $700-$1000.

For price go with Dell they'll price match anyone and their systems use the same stuff you see in stores so upgrading is easy. Get an XPS ,yeah it's more expensive but it's the most powerful computer you can get for a home and since it is a Dell it will cost less than a compatable system from any other company. If that's above budget get a high end Dimension with a good video card 256MB or higher, make sure the hard drive is a 7200RPM speed more than 100GB, get at least 2GB of RAM and go Pentium D (AMD is for wannabes). Get a DVD-RW some people will say 2 but since movie downloading will be improving one is all you need.

Wait a year before insisting on Vista and get a good sound card too.

Assuming that at least some of the "computer games" are fairly graphics intensive, you'll probably need a gig of RAM, 128 or 256mb Video RAM, and >100 gigs hard disk space.

As for upgrading, it might be conceivably cost/performance effective to go this route, but you'd need to make sure that you get the right type of RAM, and even then a 4yr old computer will still be a tad sluggish

Ok, you haven't told us a whole lot about your old computer, however, you may be able to just add RAM to your existing computer and run all the applications you want. RAM is easy to install and cheap.

Good luck!

You need a good graphic card with loads of RAM. And a popcorn and soda holder. don't worry too much about C: space.

it will play the game just fine.and it is unlikely to effect performance as well only visually and even then hardly noticable.
