Or could the man whose name was a number be Octavian(8)aka Augustus Octavian Caesar. Who Jesus looked like. The beast had an image. As in spitting image.

The Number of the Beast is described in the Book of Revelation 13:18. From the King James translation:

"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of A MAN; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."


Some interpret 666 to relate the nature of human being as "Homo sapiens" itself, NOT as any "ONE" individual. When the Greek word for "human being", (ανθρωπος), is translated into Hebrew gematric system, the resulting sum becomes 666. It is also assumed the "6" (smallest complete number) represents human being itself, and 6 tripled represent mind, body and soul; "6" is also one number LESS than the number of God. "7" is the number of God and 777 the Holy Trinity.

But then again, the Bible does state in 2 Peter 1:20 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of ANY private interpretation". Meaning we should not try to interpret on what it is. This still does not prevent some people from interpreting the prophecy of the Number of the Beast.

I guess I don't understand the correlary between the pope and the numbers you reference.

What would a dead Roman emporer have to do with something that does not happen until the end times? I suspect that whenever the beast with the mark of 666 does appear, we will know it without a doubt.

And how would you know if Augustus Caesar looked like Jesus? Seems very unlikely to me.
