My mom is gay and she divorced my dad when I was eight right after my little sister was adopted. I do not get along with her significant other. I want my mom to be happy, I leave this August for Wayne State, what should I do? My mom knows is it hopeless?

My mom is gay with a girl friend that I do not get along with. Everyone thinks I'm being stubborn, but she is so mean to me. I want my mom to be happy and I leave for college this August. Should I just deal with it until then or tell my mom how unhappy I really am?

It's not because my mom is gay, I accept that whole heartedly. I've known since eighth grade and I don't care about same sex relationships, if you think that's what the problem is, don't leave me a message. The problem is okay for now, so thanks for all the help, my mom talked to me tonight, she talked to her friend and she said sorry and she'll treat me better. Thanks ya'll. ;)

the best thing in life is your mother, and you will learn that being an adult the choices you make does not suit everybody especially your family and you don't have to love your mums other half, but your mum is your mum and if it was another man you would not be having this issue. if you really do not get on with you mums other half just keep in good contact with your mum........please do not give up your mum cannot expect you to be 100% you just do what is comfortable with you .........hope it goes well take carexxxx

You have put up with it for this long. Why not just take it for a little longer. Why hurt your mother? If you can't then talk to you mother and tell her how you feel. Hey honestly is always the best policy in the long run. Her being gay has nothing to do with anything. If you are not getting along with her partner then you have a life long problem, but like when you find a man for you, she will have to get use to the idea too. You mom's partner may have a low esteem problem and feels you are a threat to her living with your living with them. This is a problem and has to be dealt with. The way to do that is to have as calm discussion about the problem with your mother. She loves you both. She is in the middle. You will be gone in a short time. You have a choice, grin and bear until August or get thing out in the open and discuss your concerns with your mother. Hard choice but your decision.

If the "friend" isn't nice to you you should explain that to your mother. You may want to stay away from that "friend" as much as possible until you leave for school (and tell your mother what the issues are).
Apparently your mother wants your mother to be happy to, otherwise she would have maybe held off on bringing in the friend, so I don't think you need to worry about whether your mother will be happy. She's taking care of that.
Maybe you can try to live peacefully until you move out, and maybe when you finish school you can get an apartment and make yourself happy.
Since the friend is already in the picture, and since you're moving away to school, there's probably nothing else to do right now other than try to stay away from the friend and plan to move out and let your mother and her friend live happily ever after.

Not everyone is always going to get along. You only have 6 months until you leave so hang in there . It will go by really fast. Why dont you set down with your mom again and let her know "exactly" why you dont care for her friend-maybe if you went into more details than before she would understand a little better.

Is it possible that mom being Gay has nothing to do with it?
What if she had a boyfriend instead of a girlfriend that you didnt like either? (and quite common to boot) Hmm now that kindda takes the GAY out of the equation dosent it?
Its quite possible you wouldnt like/get along with a step dad or moms new boyfriend anymore than you do moms girlfriend.
You want Mom to be happy? Well let her be happy and leave her alone then... its not up to you to decide for her who she chooses as a mate/partner.. any more that it will be up to you to choose one for you. There are people in life you arent gonna like or get along with thats a fact.. better get used to that before you go off to college.. cuz yer gonna meet A LOT of em...

Now that you are grown up and leaving home, there is no reason for you to do anything; since you won't be living with them.
You can speak for yourself if your mom's girlfriend is disrespectful (acts mean). Don't ask your mom to get in the middle. That's childish.
Tell your mom that you want her to be happy.

Hold on until August, then tell your mother how you feel. It will be much more difficult for her dyke friend to punish you when you aren't there. What about your little sister?
