I don't know about *never* telling people my concerns, but I certainly do reflexively say I'm "fine" alot.
Most people understand that, but it's occasionally been a problem. Someone once got really edgy and snappish when I said "fine" and then declined to help with something or other because I was sick. I suspect that was just one angry person, though.
Here's the thing: we're stuck. If we intend on telling the complete explicit truth on every subject when asked, we're in for a life of conversational misery. We honestly summarize and take shortcuts in conversation to keep ourselves from being too wordy, because no-one has the attention span for the complete explicit truth every time.
One way we're so boring we can't talk to anyone, and the other way we're not saying everything we want to say. Which will it be?
I won't violate you for this question, either. But maybe for calling me a heathen. (Kidding)

Yes. Sometimes if something is wrong, I may not want to talk about it or be questioned about it, so I just say, everything is fine. Other times, like you, I choose not to burden someone else with my illness or problem.

I do that too...you tell people you are ok, when you are about ready to explode with emotional pain. I wonder where that comes from. Because I would like to tell someone, but don't want them to have to deal with my issues. There are way tooooo many. Of course on the other hand, if you don't tell someone, these things will keep weighing you down.

Yeah, I guess I have done that quite a bit. I'm not one to talk about myself very openly. But I'm working on it, and it really does help to open up to someone you can trust. A good friend doesn't see it as a burden.

That is pretty much the only occasion on which I actually lie. Not always, though. I have on some occasions said that I wasn't fine. But onlyto persons who deserve to bear my burden a little :-)

I do that sometimes if my boyfriend asks me what is wrong b/c sometimes I would rather say nothing was wrong than get into an on going fight. I do not think it is healthy to keep everything inside though.
