I am a sweet person and I feel like people like down upon me for this in certain settings. Does anyone else feel this way?

I know what you mean. I would like to qualify myself as a nice girl too but at times, people are just plain mean and take advantage of people like us. I think it's because they know they can get away with it, because we generally won't be mean back to them. I don't think they exactly look down on you but maybe, to them, they think that being nice makes someone a push over. Some of my friends have called me a pushover at times. For example, once, one of my ex-friends said something rude to me and I asked her to stop making fun of me, then she was like, you should have enough confidence in yourself to not let it bother you when people make fun of you. Needless to say, the reason I'm not friends with her anymore is because she was saying rude things about me behind my back and anytime I said something offensive to her, all hell would break loose. The only reason she was telling me to not let it bother me was so that she can justify her acts of being a *****. That's how I perceived it anyway. Well girl, don't let it bother you. You are a nice person and you are WAY better than them. Don't ever bring yourself down to their level by being mean to others, your a good person and thats all that matters in the end. =)

I think people are mean to nice people because they envy them. Deep down I believe that everyone really would like to be a nice person, but I guess not all people can be. But don't you change who you are just because there are people out here who are ignorant. Anybody who looks down on a nice person just because they are nice has issues.

I consider myself to be nice as well. There are just cruel people out there. I have been taken advantage of alot. But.... I have learned to put my foot down. I won't let anyone walk on me now. If you are being cruel I think it is downright stupid and I ignore the person.

some people see being nice as a sign of weakness, because the only time it would occur to them to be nice is when they are afraid of someone & trying to suck up to them! their hearts are clossed to people and love so they feel everyone is just like them. also since they dont belive that people are all special & deserving of their love..they feel like for u to be "equal" or "better" then them means u have to assert ur dominance over them!! so when u show signs of "weakness"(to them) they take it as just that.
its a very animalistic way of living..and it happens when people do not have love for each other. please dont feel bad about it! i know ur sweet haha ^_^ *pokes ur nose*

nope but i have a really nice 'lil bit geeky' but funnii n nice mate...and my boyfriend takes the mik out ov er all the time..callin her specs and all that...i jus tel him 2 shut up lol but shes a nice person so she just laughs..i know he dnt mean it...but yeah there are some nasty people in the world..it seems like they be mean to you...but in a "nice" way...eg:
mean girl:what size jumper are you wearing?
nice normal girl:36
mean girl:ohh..i wear the same size..but for some reason it looks tighter on you
nice normal girl:...??------(thinking) **what do i say without being b/i/t/c/h/y**
