I would rather go back to the jungle. In fact I think I would like to do that now if I lived near a jungle. So called civilized life isn't necessarily the best. We have put ourselves into a zoo or prison. The way we live now is not natural at all.

I think that would be a hard situation. I think I would rather go back to the jungle although it has nothing to do with being seen as a freak. I think it would be very traumatizing to suddenly be in an environment where I wouldn't be able to live how I had lived most of my life. On the other hand, if I had memories of my mother and my father, it would be nice to be with them, but they would have to start parenting all over since I would function basically like an infant. Of the cases of "wild children" around the world, it is very hard for them to acclimate into society, but I think that has to do with parents/providers selling out to whoever is interested in the child (such as photographer, reporters, etc) as that is a way to make money. I certainly hope this doesn't happen in Cambodia and I hope that the parents are able to be patient and help their daughter learn how to adjust to their way of life. Otherwise, if this can't happen, she would probably be best of being allowed to go back to the jungle.

I think she should go back to the jungle to. But they won't let her. I'm sure she will be put in a home and thought of as mentally retarded all the rest of her days. Either that,or she will end up like that other little girl (can't remember her name, but we learned about her in psych. class, her mom looked her in there attic her whole life) They used her as a case study to find out what would happen to people if they are not properly taken care of as children and are without human interaction. Turns out you can learn more, but you can't EVEN get close to knowing or reaching your full potential because you missed out on so many important things during your developmental years.
I'm impressed she could survive in the jungle for so long!!! They should definately let her go back, she would be way happier there!!

Yeah I just read the story,I think it is amazing that she survived the jungle for all those years.
As she get older, and her vocabulary increases with time,It will be very interesting to learn how she survived in the jungle that long.
No i don't think she should be put back into the jungle.
Very interesting case study.

how did she eat and take care of herself when she had a cold or the flu? how did she stay warm? her parents may have been remnants of the Khmer Rouge and that is why they were in the jungle, to escape. That is a sad case, but this is going to take a long time for her to assimilate. The Khmer rouge is a fine example of pulling out too early. If we didn't cut and run, Pol Pot would not have risen to power.

Once she discovers shopping with a credit card and talking on the cell phone while driving she will be just fine. I would be willing to help her acclimate to society, I mean, if she was hot. They don't call it "jungle sex" for nothing ...
