The pay is low, the taxes are high..Thank god I moved out of PA
Apartments range? I had my first Apartment for 425$ a month w/ Heat/ Water included..So there are cheap places!

It's overall much safer than a big city, but here's the relative low-down: The Hill Section near the University of Scranton and the hospitals is kinda dangerous. The downtown area's kinda rough, and South Side has really gone downhill quite a bit. Property values are really low, though. You can get a house for less than a car, but it isn't exactly an investment that will increase in value much, if you ask me. The city government is in poor shape financially. The pluses: great small family-owned restaurants, it's close to Philly and NY, and I'm sure there must be something else, but as an escapee, I can't come up with it.

It is a great place to live and kick back.
A Friend of mine moved there from Philly!
The housing is affordable, and the job market is average.

Yes if you want to not have a job. That area and also wilkes-Barre have a very bad job market.
