My wife has a friend whose two sons are both arch-conservatives and they *love* Stephen Colbert's show.

Do you think that the Colbert Report actually helps the conservative Republican cause, even though Colbert thinks his ironic style is helping the liberal cause?

I definitely prefer "The Daily Show" but not because "The Colbert Report" is so conservatively slanted, that I see as satire. iI your sons wish to take this show as serious Conservative rhetoric, thats fine, but that does make the joke on them (no offense).

Im not a liberal. But I enjoy the show. Part of the wonderful freedoms we have to poke fun of other political camps. Sadly in his humor there is some truth.
So yes i enjoy it. I don't know if ti helps the conservative republican cause though. I think it is more or less showing the constant stupidity that takes place in politics and society.

I like the Colbert Report. I don't know if it helps them but it doesn't hurt them.

I think the Cobert Report is hilarious.
By being just like Bill O'Reilly, he does a great job of showing how moronic O'Reilly is.
Maybe your friend's two arch-conservative sons don't recognize the sarcasm, and believe he is serious.

I take it for what it is, a comedy show and I love it. I also love The Daily Show and even though I don't agree with their politics I think the guys are smart and very in touch with what happens in the world. They are well informed even if they do spin things to fit their agendas.

I love Colbert. He's sooo funny.

The joke is that he is a conservative, but when you watch him you either get it or you don't.

He's really a liberal pretending to be conservative. Most Conservatives don't get it and fall prey to his sarcasm.

It's hilarious!!!

It's a TV show, he's comedian. He's not really informative, but he's funny every now and again.
