In simple terms how do I transfer my important information from my old pc to a new one ? Is there any chanch I will transfer any problems to the new computer ?

If the two computers are hooked up in a network, you can enable file sharing on the folder you want you transfer on your old PC (right click the folder-->sharing and security), check the box 'share this folder,' and type in a name to share it as. Then on your new PC, go into Network places and look for the name you just typed in. You should see it in there.
Note: If you cannot share the folder, run the Network Setup Wizard again, using the same internet connection as before, but when it asks you to enable file sharing/printing, check the option that allows you to.

If the two computers are not hooked up in a network, you could use a floppy disk (though most new computers dont come with a floppy drive anymore), a CD, DVD, external HD, or USB flash drive. The most common media to use would be a USB flash drive, because it's not too big nor too small and it's handy because you can take it anywhere you go.
