La Vita è bella..... Life is Beautiful. My wife and I love this movie, although we can't stand the dubbed version we prefer the subtitles.

Choristes, Les (2004)....also known as "The Chorus"

It's a French film that was nominated for an Oscar in 2004. Set in 1948, a professor of music, Clement Mathieu, becomes the supervisor at a boarding school for the rehabilitation for minors. Despite a repressive headmaster, Clement tries to transform the students by starting a small choir. It is sooooo good. I always cry at the end, but they're happy tears :)

Goodbye Lenin is good, a german comedy set in the time of the fall of the berlin wall. I would have to go with Life is Beautiful as the best though, that movie rocks.
