In the good old days, before Roe v Wade, the liberal platform could be summed up like this;
Equal educational opportunities and care for the elderly produced a environment for the economy to prosper, which created more jobs and increased tax revenue to strengthen national defense.
Of course, those days are long gone. I have no idea what their agenda is today, other than to piss and moan.

wow.. this could take a while.. I'll just hit on what comes to mind and if you want to know my stance on something else just ask. again, these are my stances and I call myself a moderate democrat.

Abortion: first tri-mester only and counseling before hand to insure it is a true choice and not an act of desperation and counseling after to insure a healthy transition.

Sex-education: The church and families obviously aren't getting the job done on average.. so the schools should teach basic sex-ed.. children are going to have sex.. we may as well lessen the chance of abortions and the chance of contriving an STD threw education.

War in Iraq: I want the troops home as quickly as possible w/o causing more problems. My solution? get another nation to do the policing for us.. one that won't be seen as conquerors by the Iraqi's and will be able to get the job done.. Pakistan would love that chance.. they would get to be buddies with a major oil producing nation, we build relations with both nations, Iraq gets fixed and we come out looking good.

Welfare: The system we have isn't perfect.. it needs work but it does NOT need scrapped unless we have a better system in place already.. some people need help.. and when you try to help there will always be people who take advantage of the system.. if a better system comes along I'll support it.. for now though this system is much better than no system.

Education: No Child Left Behind is a joke.. I work very closely with education and I can tell you for a fact that the numbers they used from the Pilot Program in Texas were only a measure of the top 50% of the kids in those schools.. if you apply the entire class the program made the schools worse... Community School Health and School of the 21st century programs are MUCH better programs and actually work.

Stem Cell research: What's wrong with using something that is going to be destroyed anyway in the name of science.. if it's destined for the inferno why not let it save someones life.. we transplant organs... why not waisted cells?

anything else.. just email me.

I think the words "liberal agenda" are the problem here. Not all liberals are the same, and not all of us want the same things. However, here are some common goals that align progressive-minded and liberal people:

- The elimination of inequity for basic needs such as food, shelter, and health care for all people, regardless of income
- The right to choose your own moral standards, especially as they pertain to religious freedom and abortion
- The preservation of the seperation of chuch and state
- Stronger education through better resources available universally, not just to private schools or schools in affluent areas
- The limitation of access to unnecessarily powerful firearms
- The strengthening of our country on the international stage through a combination of both diplomacy AND military strength, not just military
- Preservation of the environment
- Civil rights and equality
- The restriction of big business so as to limit their power over individuals and society.

I hope this helps.

Equal law, equal opportunity? What ever happend to having to earn it the good ol' fashion way, and NOT be monetarily responsible for those who want free access to everything,to allow illegals to break the law, then reward them for it, to put plants and animals before people. To use my money for lame special interest groups , to research insignificant insects and endangered weeds. I call that UNFAIR...To answer your question, that IS their agenda.

Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights. It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power (especially of government and religion), the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of all citizens are protected.[2] In modern society, liberals favor a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed.[3]

doesn't sound so evil, does it????
