Innocent until proven guilty? Not anymore...how can American's stand this decay?

I don't understand how our society can let this happen. Coerced evidence? That's confessions while you are tortured, and there was a thing like this we covered in school called "Witch Trials" where people were tortured until they confessed to practicing witch craft and then murdered under the name of God. Well, now it's "Terrorist Trials" and you are tortured to confess and then murdered in the name of convenience (after all, sorting through all that pesky evidence is to tedious, better to use the rumor mill as evidence). If you are for this (torture), you had better go watch some torture vids on youtube and the web because if that's what you are willing to have your government do, so you had better acknowledge the terrible suffering you implore, the terrible suffering that never had to be, but is.

Yes, these people are suspected, and most of them probably are violent. But it's the ones that aren't that are the problem. The ones that are just citizens who were in the wrong place or knew the wrong people are the ones I am worried about, and there have been innocents sent to these camps (a quick search will find an article, I'm sure).
Not to mention that this sets a precedent of behavior. Before it was all Americans had the right to a fair trial. Now it's "some" Americans have the right to a fair trial, the others will be "rendered". How is this even still America? When I was in school, this was one of the pillars discussed to show how civilized we were!
Also, how can violating our own "golden" rights show the world our morals are better then anyone else's?

And do you honestly think these people are treated humanely on a continuous basis? Just because it wasn't leaked to the internet doesn't mean it doesn't happen.We have checks and balances for a reason, and we are ignoring them

What, you think the innocent lambs in Gitmo were just picked up randomly off the street?

And, gee, why do you think so many were previously released? Their cases have already gone through several panels to determine if they should be there. Now there is the military tribunal. They ARE using evidence, but will also allow hearsay evidence. And they aren't being tortured. Torture has a very specific definition, and their treatment does not rise to the level of torture.

I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill here.

how is it coerced? are govt investigates these reports. they will go as far as putting some one in a cell with the accused to get the accused to talk. and the snitch reports back to the authority's. so nothing is false. if you want terrorist kidnapping you and cutting your head off then go for it. i have seen videos of the nut cases cutting americans heads off. they are not men if they have to steal an airplane and fly it into a building to kill Innocent people. if they want to kill are govt, then go after the govt. leave Innocent people alone. it is ok to kill americans, but don't kill murders? if the idiots don't like retaliation, then don't dish it out.

It is very sad but Americans now only believe in rights for those who agree with them.

Free speech is now only for those who say what you like and if they disagree you sue for emotional trauma.

The right to vote is ignored by the vast majority of the population so the leaders know they don't have to care what the masses think.

Separation of church and State is under constant attack from both sides as those who are not religious seem to find offense and sue for any hint of religion anywhere in society and the religious want to make the bible the law of America and the textbook for science class.

One State allowed gay marriage so people now DEMAND that government legislate marriage....they actually ASKED for government to take over a private affair..still reeling from that one...my grandfather is puking in his grave

People keep seeing the attacks on freedom and saying "Well it's for safety so it's ok" not realizing that we are in NO WAY safer than we were before and instead much less safe since we have turned all our protections and freedoms over to Big Brother in exchange for a promise that one day we might be safe.

American society now has actually made it OK for the President to ignore any law that may hinder him/her.

It's been happening for decades with the DUI laws. You get pulled over at a checkpoint and have to prove that you are sober.

This is the slippery slope that some of us have been warning everyone about, but no one believes until it's too late.
