Okay Vegas is well known for Restraunts but there are soo many to choose from. I'm taking my girlfriend for her 21st birthday with some friends and family. We're probably looking to spend in the $50-100 per person range (for all four-five courses and wine). I generally want to stay away from Asian and Euro-Asian cuisine ( I'm asian and refuse to pay over twenty dollars for something i can make better at home for five dollars). Any good recommendations of restraunts, including location, price range, how early I need to make reservations, and cuisine type. Any place you recommend against? All answers greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah and also I want to try and stay away from a lot of Chains..such as Ruth's Chris...nothing against them, but I live in Seattle so we have a good deal of those chains here as well.

Most of the "nice" restaurants in the casinos are just bad knockoffs of an original restaurant that has done well in LA or NYC. They are almost all over rated. And there so called celebrity chefs are a crock. Half the time those chefs have never even visited those locations, let alone cook for ya. There are a couple of local restaurants I highly recommend off Strip. Close enough to keep the cab ride under $5-$10.
Nora's Italian Cuisine (Jones & Flamingo)
Family owned and built from the ground up. Started as a small pizza/pasta place about 10 years ago and has developed into the most popular boutique restaurant in town. It has tripled in size, taking over the businesses on each side, but it is still very small and requires reservation at least a week out. Full bar service and incredible authentic sicilian dishes. *** $$$
Hugo's Cellar (inside the Four Queens Downtown)
This place is old school Vegas and probably at the top of your range, but worth every penny. Most of the new places you could easily drop $200 a person and leave hungry. This place will probably run you $50-$70 a person including drinks. The cuisine is Seafood/Steaks and the meal is full of ceremony, perfectly delivered by a well-trained and cordial waitstaff. Still voted amongst the top every year for over 50 years. Don't let the appearence of the Four Queens fool you, once you are down in the cellar you will feel pampered! **** $$$
Marrakech (Flamingo & Paradise)
A traditional six-course Moroccan feast! Wonderful atmosphere, impeccable service, delicious tasty food, enjoyable belly dancing, very moderately priced for the amount and variety of food that you get... Definitely a must try if you like Mediteranian cuisine and... if you're hungry!! *** $$
These are ALL sure to impress. Good luck and Happy Birthday to your gf.

There is a restaurant on Tropicanna a couple of miles east of the Strip called The Swiss Cafe. (It's in the same shopping center as a Wal-Mart, but don't let that put you off. It's a small gourmet restaurant and unless you indulge in a lot of wine or other alcoholic beverages you'll have a hard time spending $200.00 per person, but you will get an excellent gastronomic experience. Buy a copy of the Friday Review Journal and read the section called Neon. There will be restaurant reviews in it. Usually the reviews are overoy generous, but you can make allowances and figure out where you would like to go. As the waiters say, "Enjoy."

I really like Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas. It's a French steakhouse and their food and wine is amazing! If you're going to Vegas before the spring, they might not be seating outside because it's cold. But if you can grab an outside table, do it! The view of the fountains across the street at Bellagio is fantastic.
Enjoy!

While i agree that most of the restaurants in hotels tend to be overrated, i have to recommend one: N9NE at The Palms Hotel. Its a mix of a steakhouse and a bit of sushi. I know you said you don't want Asian, but i doubt you can make better sushi in general, let alone at home for $5

Well, my favorite Restaurant in Vegas has to be the Golden Gate Downtown at the end of the Canopy...Prime Rib, salad. Baked Potato, Veggies, Rolls,Coffee, Sodas, Beer for 2...7 people...Bill total $78.00.....Good food and good service! We eat there almost every day...Breakfast isn't bad either, and they have great Sandwiches and Shrimp cocktail (99cents) at the Back Bar for very reasonable prices! we love it downtown!

If you want romantic, go with the restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere.
Ruths Cris - just off the strip
Cheap food and drinks - Ellis Island, they have their own microbrew. All beers in the casino - $1

For our Anniversary my boyfriend and I dined at Le Artistes at Paris Hotel. Its ala carte but we only spent about $110 for the both of us. It had a really nice atmosphere and the food was delicious. They have the biggest steaks I have ever seen
