I am planning on getting a laptop. I have no clue what kind, however I know that I do not want an Apple. Anyways...I am planning to have the basics on it, internet, microsoft word, and powerpoint. I was also planning on downloading the Sims2, so that takes up a lot of memory and stuff. So I was wondering what would be the best laptop for me, that wouldn't be slow, because I can't stand slow computers. But also the laptop would be no more than 1,300 dollars. Please help! Thank you!

You could get an awesome dell laptop with a budget of $1300. Looking at your requirements, a Dell.com e1705 with a large hard drive for that game, 1 GB of memory at least, again, for the game, and Microsoft office for the word and PowerPoint would be up your alley.

I have 2 dell laptops and they both do the tasks assigned to them. 1 is over 4 or 5 years old and still kicking.

Currently, through 2/7 at http://www.24houredeals.com/dell-coupons-23-mer.html you can get a 20% off $999 on laptops. Perfect for your needs.

Dell has reasonably priced, quality laptops. The main thing you need to look for is about an 80-100GB Hard Drive, and minimum 1GB memory, especially since in about a week or so you will be forced to have Vista pre-loaded as the Operating System instead of XP. My suggestion would be to get it quick if you can afford it so you can get it loaded with XP. You can get a Dell Inspiron for around $1000 configured this way. Also, be sure to spend the money on a minimum 3 year service plan with ANY laptop you buy, regardless of the brand. Check the following link.

C'mon Mandy, how you gonna figure out which ones are fast and which ones aren't? After you put anti-virus and firwall and spyware stuff, please let me know if you find a fast one.

Right now, I would wait and examine the new models that come with Vista already loaded. It ain't gonna be any greater than XP, but it's the latest version and ships on new pcs Jan 30.

You'll need to examine processor speed, hard drive size, and RAM. On a new laptop, none of this is cheap.

enable me preface by using affirming that i'm an licensed Dell and HP Reseller. I even have no longer something against Macs in any respect. in certainty, i'm relatively inspired by using the present Macbooks. in case you choose for the Microsoft working device, the Dell Vostro workstation has been my contemporary %. for superb value for lowend laptops. for my area, you're comparing apples to oranges. they do no longer discover ways to a minimum of one yet another as they the two have diverse reward. My professional opinion: Macbooks - stable (outfitted on Unix platform), good classes, straightforward, greater inflexible standards, greater advantageous video enhancing ability, skill to run XP very just about (utilising utility). Dell Vostro - Comes with XP or Vista, versatile with utility, relatively some hardware suggestions, low priced. i decide for to propose you communicate on your instructors first and ask what they are going to be utilising. finally, you will locate much less issues in case you whichever platform they are utilising.

Fujitsu have GREAT items that are underestimated by reviewers of all ilks. Also, a Sony ToughBook is a Good General Choice.
Of course E-computers might fit the budget

Although not suggesting that you buy a Mac, I'm simply wondering why you're not interested in getting one. Have you ever used one? If you haven't then don't judge them prematurely.

I'd suggest something by Gateway or Dell. Although they're laptops aren't the most powerful, they're in your price range, and will do what you want.

a VAIO would definetly be the best choice. It has a built in video card that's AWESOME and it's best for music lovers and gaming freaks.
I'm sure you could find one that fits your budget.
