They are GREAT for 13 year olds. My sister just loves them and she is the same age. She has a whole collection of them, 13 is the ideal age to have a Barbie Doll.
Have Fun !

Of course. I was still playing with barbies at 13 as well until about 14ish. Then when I'd babysit I'd play with them because I've kept all my barbies since my childhood. Age doesn't apply to what you enjoy, I'm almost 20 and I love reading childrens Books in between classes at college. Maybe get her a barbie doll and another small thing, if she has a itune-get her maybe an itune card so she can get songs from itunes. If she likes reading, get her a book series she enjoys or a movie.

LOL. I wouldn't worry too much about her wanting the Barbie. Im pretty sure u would prefer her playing with the Barbie Doll instead of a real life Ken (u know what I mean). As far as toys for her age...if she's into arts and crafts buy her one of those kits where u can make different stuff. Me, I just wanted money, clothes and shoes at that age.

Your daughter isn't going to become a lesbian. Either its an inevitablility or its not. If she does turn out to be a lesbian, it would have been predetermined and having a lesbian stepsister wouldn't have had any impact on her sexual orientation. At 10 a kid is perfectly capable of understanding that 2 women or 2 men can fall in love. They can understand that fine when they're in kindergarten. Kids just ask a lot of questions. It won't confuse her. Talk to her about it sooner rather than later if you want to be the one to introduce her to the idea because she's going to hear about it pretty soon from someone else if she hasn't already. I distinctly remember being 8 or 9 when a classmate told me what a lesbian was lol. That was about 10 years ago now and kids are growing up faster than ever. If you wait until she's a teen or something she could have developed homophobic ideals by that time.

Although the 'norm' might be that 13 year olds are too big to play with Barbie/Bratz, I'd have to say: Let the children play! Children have forgotten how to actually play & that's why, nowadays, children are 'forced' to grow up so fast (and then we as adults can't understand how children of as young as 13 and younger gets involved with adult activities.) At 13, she's still a child. If she spesifically asked for one, go ahead & buy one for her. At least you'll know that it was money well spent. Should you decide not to go with the doll, how about CD's, clothes or a DVD? Good luck deciding!

It isn't really safe to give a Barbie doll to a 3-4 year old because head might come off and pose as a chocking hazard. And for you're 13 year old, give her a gift card to a mall, a makeup kit, or a new outfit. I reccomend that nothing works better to a 13 year old than a night out with her girlfriends.

most 13 yr olds do not play w/ Barbies. My daughters 10, hasnt played in yearsss! If she is asking tho, i guess get her 1. Other ideas- clothes, board games, does she have nintendo ds? or psp? wii? if so a game for those, maybe an mp3 player if she doesnt have 1 yet, ipod more expensive, earrings, bath things, lotions, shower gels, gift certificates-find out favorite places, things, maybe a night at a water park. Good luck!

I would say 13 is a litle old for a Barbie, but if she likes them maybe you can get her one of the Diva Stars Bratz or more ground up barbies. Try somthing like crafts braclet making bejewler for clothes anything they can creat with if you dont want to get toys.

Well if she wants a Barbie doll, get her one, she must like them or she wouldn't ask for one. When it says 3 and up it means any age past 3, so that would include 13.

I was still playing with Barbie's @ 13. If that's what she wants, that's what I would get.
Most 13 y.o. girls like clothes, games, earrings, and music- but you should be worried about what THIS 13 year old wants, if you want her to be happy with the present.
