A recent question about the KuKluxKlan had me googling. I came across this interview with the National Imperial Wizard: http://www.liberator.net/articles/KKKJeffBerry.html

I've never heard this version. Is this the new and improved KuKluxKlan? A kinder and gentler Klan? Or is this man right and we were spoon fed information from the beginning. Before we jump to conclusions, I remember when my grade school text books taught that Indians were savages and the white man came over here for a better life and wanted to 'share' the land with them. I'm not advocating the KKK. I'm asking if anyone has ever heard this side before and what your take on it is. I'm finding it hard to swallow.

I had the same thought about the name. KuKluxKlan represents hate and violence, in my opinion. Why not present your views and arguments from a better platform? That interview made my jaw drop.

I occassionally come across new efforts to reposition the KKK and rewrite it's history. It doesn't stand up to scrutiny, no matter how much they try to blame the media.

If you wanted to start a sincere effort as they portray, why try to ressurect the rightfully tarnished name of the KKK, rather than start something new? Obviuosly, part of the plan is to rewrite, to whitewash (if you'll pardon the pun) the past, and make it seem like your uncle's social club.

If they have gotten kinder in the past generation or so, I sure haven't noticed.

I do know that they will say whatever the current audience wants to hear. Remember that the hate part sells better to some individuals.

What they and the English Only crowd say about Mexicans today, they said about Irish immigrants in the 1840s all the way up to their campaign against John Kennedy in the 1960 election.

That the two groups are so closely allied, and form a base within both major political parties in America, should be something to keep in mind every time you hear bigoted statements.

And the sheriff in Slidell Louisiana who was involved in the shooting at Katrina victims trying to cross the I-10 bridge into "his" parish is a Klan suck. And that was only a year and a half ago.
And just this past year he has made statements that the evacuees could only stay in "his" parish if they follow some extremely racist rules and submit to really invasive surveillance and other forms of harassment and intimidation.

When the Klan say they are a police auxiliary organization, they aren't lying. Most of their members are cops.

Not saying that all cops are Klansmen, or even most cops, but the two groups have some striking similarities in their shared philosophies.
