We are looking for a cheaper, better ,way of life than what we have in Seattle. Is the South tolerant enough for a mixed race couple?

It depends on what part of the South you're writing about. Texas, Georgia, Virginia the Carolinas would welcome you. But don't go to deep South and don't go to Florida. Florida is for the retired. If you're young. And don't move in those small @ss hick towns. If you go South try to stay near a major city. You don't have to live in the city but be a certain radius from it. And be near a major interstate. Hell you never know with Southeners! They like Whites and Asians better then they do Blacks. That why I came back North where I was born and raised. I tried the South twice. I'm never going back! It's too slow!

PS: This is the order in-which I would look at states to move that I've given you.

1st try Virginia
2nd try Georgia
3rd try the Carolinas and
4th try Texas

I've lived in Virginia and Texas. My mother is in the suburbs of Georgia and my cousins are in the Carolinas also a good friend that I grew up with. So I've been or lived in all of the places. I lived in Virginia 2 years and Texas almost 7. I've only been back home for a little over a year but I'm so happy to be back North until I feel like jumping for joy every single day! Now this is the pace I'm use to!

Are we tolerant enough here in the South? You need to stop believing all of the movies you see about the South. It's not like My Cousin Vinnie here. There are many mixed race couples here in the South. Well, as far as My Cousin Vinnie, some of it is true, you CAN buy dirt here, along with horse manure for your garden. LOL

Asian and White - you'll be fine. I've lived in the south for 12 years and the tolerance level is better than expected, as long as you're not black/white, or gay. Enjoy you're life, screw the rest of them.

Depends on which part of the south. In rural Georgia or Texas, you probably would get some funny looks and maybe rude comments but the days that they would lynch you are over. New Orleans and Florida are both pretty tolerant, as I see it. Florida more so than New Orleans.

Consider coming to Atlanta.

Atlanta may be in the South, but most of us... the huge majority!... are from someplace else.

No one would bat an eye at an Asian/Caucasian couple.

The REAL question is: could you stand the heat and humidity down here? It's awful!

South, as in California? I'm not sure if minorities are allowed in California, especially interracial couples. Whatever you do, don't move to San Francisco. That's the most racist and intolerant city in the US.

If you two think that you are ready to move, I am going to say good luck and have fun moving.

tolerant enough??? If you aren't strong enough as a couple to come and where-ever and how-ever you please ~ that says enough right there.
