My eyes are continuing to get worse. I am nearsighted and my left eye is worse than my right eye. I think it is called lazy eye?

What can I do to make my vision get close to 20/20? I discovered eye exercises today and wondered if they really worked. I heard of programs that are used to help improve vision GREATLY.

I probably can not buy those programs, but was wondering if anyone can give any eye exercises to help improve my vision. (Left eye is around 4+ while my right eye is around 2-3?)

Can anyone tell me more about eye exercises? Do i have to wear glasses or not when doing these exercises. I am only 14, and wish for better eyesight more than ANYTHING in the world.

Serious Answers please! Thank You

First of all, if you're wanting to do exercises to prevent your prescription from increasing, there's nothing out there that's proven to work. (ie. The See Clearly Method which has been recently pulled off the market.) There are ways to slow the progression of nearsightedness or allow you the freedom to not have to wear glasses or contacts during the day. Check out http://www.paragoncrt.com

Second, if you truly have a lazy eye (where one eye is not seeing 20/20 WITH glasses) then you need to have an evaluation done by an optometrist to see if vision therapy would help. Vision therapy consists of a customized series of exercises for your specific problem.

From the numbers you gave it doesn't sound like "Lazy Eye" to me. You need to get a diagnosis for that and it takes more than just a typical optomitrist's exam to verify. Treatment involves glasses, drops, vision therapy and/or patching. Recent medical research has proven that AMBLYOPIA is successfully treated up to the age of 17. Here's a link to read about that particular disorder:

Some things you can do to help your vision improve (although not likely all the way to 20/20) are:
- avoid eye strain (computer games, TV, reading in dim light)
- get plenty of rest
- eat healthy foods, especially broccoli, carrots, liver, sunflower seeds
- avoid sugar & white flour, margarine & hydrogenated fat as much as you can
- take a natural supplement formulated for eyes containing Beta carotene, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Lutein, Vitamin E & Zinc

You most likely have "Amblyopia" which is the term for "lazy eye". At 14, you may have missed the boat to correct this problem. It should have been diagnosed earlier in your childhood. Then you should have worn a patch over the stronger eye to increase the strength of the weaker eye. The concept is to make the weaker eye work harder and is usually successful..IF you follow through with wearing the patch.

At your age, you are still developing, though in your late stages, you may have a chance to improve vision with this method as well. I suggest you speak to your parents about this and get to an eye doctor asap. They may still be able to help.

If you apply a white or light glittery color in the inner corner of your eyes that will make them look bright er and more awake. Using eyeliner on the top and bottom lid also help to emphasize the eye. Just don't go too dark!! Then it just looks scary! lol
