Is the most expensive one the best? What is prescott and
Cedar Mill, Conroe, Kentsfield, Northwood, Prescot, Presler, Smithfield ? What is the difference?

Those are the Intel code names for different processors. For example, Pentium 4 is the retail name of a long list of processors, Northwood and Prescott are two of them. The best right now are the two Core 2 Extremes, one is a dual core running at 2.93 Ghz, the other is a quad core running at 2.66Ghz. The dual core is a Conroe and the quad core is a Kentsfield.

The Intel Core 2 Extreme is the best. Prescott and Conroe... those are the different processors TRUE names that true determine some smaller things (voltage mostly).

You will get the same quality and speed for a cheaper price if you go with an AMD
