People do not see you as a friend but rather a target, not all people but enough. They feel they can run over you and you will not resist that means they can steal from you. People are not afraid to steal from people they see as weak even thou you are exercising great respect.

You are throwing pearls at swine. I hate to say this but look for people more like you and exclude the haters and greedy or you will have to change or lose your mind.

Life is a battle and people will screw you over for 5%.

You might benefit from reading the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament.
What is the value of "being a good guy"? Or as the poet put it, "Virtue is its own reward/Maybe that is why I am so bored."
The value is in pleasing God who expects that of you and of all of us. With what God did for me, I want to please Him.
Secondary value comes from the respect we garner from others who see that we are living this kind of life.
