I hit menarche about a month and ten days ago. I just got me second period yesterday, and I just want to ask a few more questions XD.

A: My back hurts. Can that be a cramp? (Just above my hip- lower back)
B: I went from like, super light with the smallest tampon, but now even a regular one wont hold it for more than an hour! I could use my mom's but they are like the size of my WRIST! Any suggestions?
C: OMG I HIT AN ARTERY!!!! THE RIVER NILE IS FLOWING THROUGH ME! AHHHH!:)

Yes, women do experience back pain with their period and the flow does change.
If it's a heavy period and you don't want to use a super tampon then just use a pad.

A. It's probably related. A lot of women get achy backs and hips. Motrin or Midol should take care of that.

B. Expect the first few to be pretty uneven. They have a variety pack of tampons now, so you can get several absorbency levels, and use the right one depending on the day. You may want to back it up with a pad or pantyliner, just in case.

C. I know how that feels. It seems like a gallon! But it's not as much as it looks like, and it will be over soon. But if you're really heavy, be sure you get enough iron, or take a supplement to prevent anemia.

Its completely normal for a girl to have lower back pain when she's on her period. I get it really bad so I use those back-patches that they make for arthritis, and you wouldnt believe how well they work. I also went from super-light to heavy. You have several options when it comes to what to use. If you arent comfortable using the tampons for a heavier flow, you can use regulars, but you'll have to change them quite often. You could also just opt for strictly using pads, but that just opens up a bunch of doors for potential leaking. I hope I have been of some help. I have all of these issues also so feel free to e-mail me if you need something else. Good luck.

Calm down.....this is normal. You have not yet become very regular.Cramps are normal during that time and for some woman can even start before the actual period.
Your flow should start out heavy in the beginning and tapper of toward the end of your period.
You should talk to your mom.....she's been there and she can give you some advice. You may talk to her about seeing a gynecologist.....just to make sure everything is okay.It takes sometime to get used to this.....but you'll be okay.

Don't worry, this is very normal. Yes, sometimes your back does hurt, but not all the time, for me anyway. Everyone is different, and also, you just started, so the amount of blood you get will change for a while until maybe a year has gone by. And for your back, take some advil. Good luck!!! : )

P.S. You will survive, trust me. : )
