NYC MODEL SEARCH/ MODEL EXPO, scam or real???

Question

hi,
my 23 year old daughter just went to nyc model search in greensboro,nc. out of 300 ppl she was one of the 75 picked.
they want you to get photos made by their photographers cost$399.00 or u can take them elsewhere. but they must approve your photos before they allow u to attend the free model expo...at the expo u are supposed to meet over 30 top agency scouts.
my daughter is beautiful, everyone says so.
she is fit, small figured . but has anyone heard of this??

You are probably getting scammed. These companies make money off of hopes and dreams. They keep on you for more photos, more money...... I think the key is "they must approve of your photos".... REAL talent scouts don't need to see professionally done photos they just need to see you.
REAL talent scouts make you pay for nothing. You just show up. Don't get all starry eyed about this. I know your daughter is excited and is high as a kite feeling like she has this glamorous future....

I am not saying she still can't....but I have seen newscasts about companies who work like this - they end up bilking people for thousands of dollars in the end and then they never get a modelling job.....all they have is a big stack of pictures...

No mam it is not a scam. Your daughter does not have to have her pictures done by the company you can pay to have them done somewhere else. They have examples of what type of pictures they will aprove. I would suggest that you pay the $399.00 Because no one else will do your make up and let you own all of your negitives. Any other photogopher will charge you for make up and for every picture they print. If your daugher uses model seach NYC she will get all of her pictures on disk and reprint rights. That is dozen of photos. And no you should not pay anything to a scouting agencies. Your daughter attended the model search wich was held my the scouting company and now she is going to the Expo. Theese are the big people so you do want to have professional pictures. The scouting agencies know what she looks like now it is time to advertise her with professional pictures. Hope this was some help and I hope to see her at the top.
