I don't think having a black president is a signal of the lack racism. Thats just a race baiting tactic to start an argument. The fact that most people vote on the basis of poiltics, not race, shows that racsim is in decline

Who should have been president that was black in the past 30 years? There hasn't been any real serious candidates. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have been the 2 major black candidates that made it on the national stage, and they are both racist pigs who try to incite fighting between the races. I'm sure if a viable black candidate comes around, he will have a good chance. We can't have someone is going to pull the race card every 5 minutes.

Nobody ever said that racism is over, and it never will be. Racism is a form of prejudice, and prejudice is something that EVERY human does... it's in our nature... I'll give you an example...

Would you ever eat fried monkey brains?

I'm sure some would, and perhaps some even have, but I have a feeling that most would not, because they PREJUDGE that it won't taste good, therefore they don't.

Now I'm not saying that to prejudge someone based on their skin color is right, on the contrary... it's monumentally stupid, but people have been doing it for centuries and unfortunately will continue to do so.

As far as a black President gos, we'll have one, fairly soon too I think, there are many black politicians I would seriously consider voting for... Condoleeza Rice immediately comes to mind.

Tax the poor !!!

For you and all the others who are so into promoting a person of a particular color, I got some really bad news for you-

YOU ARE THE RACIST!!!!

I support General Colin Powell w/ Rice simply because they are by far the best qualified people to assume control of the Executive Seat at this time in our Nation's history!

Who else is more aware of the real and full issues than the former and current Secretaries of State?

No Race issue, no Religion issue, just qualifications and prov-en capabilities!

racism is far from over in this country...while we have made significant strides from the days of slavery and have eradicated racist laws, racism is still a very big problem in our country today. Today, people tend to keep their feelings to themselves but when they, especially white people, come across a different race there is still a lot of them who become very uncomfortable. They still adhere to the stereotypes of those people that were established many decades ago. I'm guessing you're from a bigger city where it's less obvious to see acts of racism, but what people forget is that there is still a lot of rural area in this country, and a lot of people who live in those rural areas. These people tend to be more likely not to be comfortable with other races, and will never vote for a president of a different color

A good question and unfortunately the only answer (definitive) I can give is that the voters haven't wanted to put through any yet. I do believe there are some good black candidates such as Condi and Powell and there are surely more who just are not in the spotlit. They must win the nomination first so maybe it is that their parties have some fears about running them.

The only black people that I'm aware of that have run for president are Jackson and Sharpton. And both of them are insane.

None have been good enough to be President yet
Vote for the person not the color of the person
That would be Racist and stupid to vote for a person just because they are a certain color

Racism is rampant in America right now, have you not heard how many people hate Muslims, or generally anybody with a light brown complexion resembling a person who may potentially be Muslim?

There is still no racial equality in the states. Although people may not be as outspoken about it, many will still cross the street when confronted with a group of black youths. find me a fortune 500 black CEO. There is still a huge racial inequality thriving, just because we no longer talk about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
