theres a metal ring around it and i dont know how to get it off so i can get the rest of the intake off.

You dont have to cut it! Follow the clamp around until there is a bulge. If its a worm gear, it will have a nut on it with a slot for a flat head screwdriver.

You can either use a screw driver to undo this clamp or use an 8mm socket to release it.

It can also be a lever type, all you do is lift up the lever and it will release the clamp. Or it will have a long threaded screw that you undo to loosen the clamp as well, these usually have a philips head.

Nothing can be easier! Follow the clamp - there is a bolt (8 mm but a screwdriver will work too) oriented towards the firewall. Loosen it, and pull the hose. Note: there is a tab on the hose neck that keeps the clamp in one position only - align it properly when re-installing.

If it is like a clamp that has no adjustment like a CV Axel boot strap then you will have to cut it with a tin snips.
