Bush only recognizes democracies with leaders friendly to the US. And by friendly, I mean they will do our bidding with minimal arm twisting.
Ironically, Bush calls Israel a democracy. Last time I checked democratic values were equality and representation for all. Israel is a state for Jews (it says so in their declaration of independence). How does that promote equality for non-Jews?? Only Jews have a standing invitation to immigrate. Only Jews are welcome and have rights. There are Jewish only roads. The situation in health care and education is much like that in the US before the Civil Rights movement. Palestinians are treated as second class citizens like blacks were. People in the back woods of Peru are even being conned into becoming orthodox Jews to have a "better life" picking up garbage on the streets of Tel Aviv to compete with the Palestinian birth rate. How's that for a democracy?

the only way for George Bush to regain appreciate is that if Iraq quiets down and turns right into a democratic us of a using invasion. Years from now, human beings might look back and notice the invasion using fact the turning factor. If Iraq turns into democratic and this reasons different countries to pass that way interior the area, his call may be rehabilitated. regrettably, purely historians can do it, in step with risk ones that have not yet been born. it will take a protracted time for those products to happen and there is not any assure they'll happen. i will say this: sticking your finger interior the wind is not any thank you to wield the potential of the united states. yet Bush will have no appreciate for the subsequent 2 years. That, I assure.

Arafat was a terrorist who lead the terrorist organization the PLO. The US never said anything about the election of Abbas and has shown support for him.
Hamas is another terrorist organization. The assumption can be made that, since the Palestinians continue to vastly support terror organizations, they too must be terrorists.
We are in a War on Terror. Therefore, I think the Pals are screwed.

It's easy to be a "Democracy" in name...but it practice, it's different. True Democracies respect treaties and other agreements, make an earnest effort to live up to their word, and don't hijack airliners full of civilians and blow them up in the desert nor throw wheelchair bound cruise ship passengers overboard.
A true Democracy is based on words, trust, honor, as well as deeds. Nobody would call Nazi Germany a Democracy simply because Ribbentrop had put his signature on non-aggression treaties along with Chamberlain's and Stalin's or because the acronym "Nazi" included the word "democratic."
Despite all of Arafat's rhetoric, his personal and stated goal was to eliminate the Sovereign State of Israel by whatever means possible.
Yes, I believe that people can change and repent. But Arafat remained an unrepentent terrorist until his death which is why only terrorists mourned his passing.

What makes you think there is any democracy in the middle east? That pig Arafat is a ~was a terrorist and did nothing to ever "earn" a Nobel Prize, especially a Peace prize. He couldn't earn a prize out of Cracker Jacks! Hamas ARE terrorists. You've been listening to too much liberal propaganda. Pull your head out of the muck and look at reality! Just because some of them took their black hoods off and talk to the media, does NOT change the fact that they are nothing more than terrorists! They keep their black hoods tucked in their pockets ready for immediate deployment. Do you understand what that means? They proudly LIE to us because their Koran says they can and should if it will get us to drop our guard just long enough to stick a dagger through our hearts, bullet in our heads, or bombs in our cars! But NOOOOOOOO! You would rather close your eyes and think good thoughts and believe they want to be our friends. Well THAT's NOT TRUE! They DON'T want peace, they DON'T want democracy, they DON'T want to be our friends
If our troops came home today, THEY WILL FOLLOW US HOME AND KILL US HERE! THE ONLY THING THEY WANT IS EASIER WAYS TO KILL US! Get your heads out of the liberal's sandbox and see the truth of what I'm saying, PLEASE, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!! If you don't like the war, the ONLY thing you can really do to help is enlist and go over there and WIN THE WAR! If you don't want to do that, then SHUT UP!

Arafat is a terrorist. You must be a young student who has been brainwashed by the local collage. Check real history and see what he did in the 70's and 80's. The other leaders you talk of are who and what country? Iran, Libya Or I know Iraq. Stop listening to the liberal professors and learn real life.

Arafat was a terrorist who kept his own ppl in the dirt, unable to communicate even a single intelligent thought. To give him the noble prize was totally idiotic.

Because the only "democracy" he respects (and that term is being used VERY loosely here) is one that he establishes according to his own rules. We are slowly but surely losing the rights that we have democratically chosen in this country. AND he insisted on a "democratic" form of government for Iraq, a country that has no background for this sort of political system, and obviously doesn't know what to do with it.
Also, anyone who doesn't agree with the "Decider" is whatever he feels like calling them. (The Gospel according to Dubya)

It is hypocrisy to the highest degree. Israel had the chance to make a deal with Arafat and a Jewish extremist killed that chance
then when Arafat died they had a chance to make peace with Abbas and they passed on it. So now they have to deal with Hamas and they don't like it.

Because he's a bully and thinks he is the only one right no matter what experienced advisors tell him. By the way did you know that about 2 months ago Hamas declared war on the U.S.?
