i agree with u here on this one!! i have been called all sorts of names and if i speak in my scottish slang im accused of being unfair and racist why because the blacks/whatever dont understand but it is ok 4 them 2 speak their native language and oting is said I AM NOT RACIST but i would like 2 be given the respect that i give others. i was brought up 2 believe what u wouldnt want done 2 urself DONT do 2 others

It is sad that in the 21st century people are still resorting to childish tactics that don't even belong in the playground. As for being racist and effecting you, yes it is racist and no you can't do a lot about it without witnesses so either don't let it effect you and ignore the ignorant son of a b*tch. Sometimes life is unfair when it deals you a bum deal you have to learn to turn the other cheek and be an adult about by realising that they are not.

Anyone can play the card, it's just how much resonance it has with the wider community that matters. Please remember that you will always be part of the racial majority in this country (even if you fall fowl of feeling otherwise, in your particalr part of the country), which is why so little emphasis is put on your feelings about this. But that does mean that you should accept it in any way.
I am not white and do not feel that your feelings are any less important to you, than mine are to me. If you hurt, it is no less regretable than if I hurt. I guess it's really a matter of how much support you have in the community to overcome this.
I would suggest you confront anybody that tries to racially abuse you - SHAME THEM. Believe me, nobody will side with them, except those that share their ignorance and these are likely to shrink away if you stand your ground on this.
Please also bear in mind that historically, what you refer to as the "racist card", has in fact been people trying to overcome actual racism - even if this has now been hijacked by some, in order to further their own interests.
Racism is not restricted by race.
