does it hurt to get your belly button pierced? the piercing itself doesnt hurt at all and only takes a couple seconds. however there is a slight annoying pain that follows, but its not anything that you cant live through. it kind of feels like a sweat bee sting..nothing bad!
does it take a long time to heal? mine only took about 3 months, but i also took really good care of mine. i would clean mine every time i took a shower with dial soap and i would use bactine on it every day too. you have to keep it clean and everything in order for it to heal quickly. I never have had an infection in mine either which is a plus!
As far as the pain goes, its not bad and if you can handle needles then your good to go! good luck :)

When I had my belly button pierced I thought the worst part was the clamp. The needle wasn't so bad at all. Getting it peirced hurts but it's really not that bad. If it's something that you really want done then the pain of getting it done shouldn't really matter. If you think about it, the piercing part of it only takes less than a minute and then it's over. Honestly, if you really want it I would say go for it. The pain is temporary and isn't that intense at all.

Honestly, yes. I agree with the person who said the clamp hurts the most. I thought it was already done, haha. My bellybutton got infected, but every piercing I have has. It's all in how your body reacts to the jewelry and the piercing. I've had friends who have had theirs heal so fast compared to mine and some who had it 'rip' out. I hear the best way to make it heal fast though is salt water, so if you're near an ocean, that'd work good. But it's just how you are. It took mine awhile (over a year) to heal and it was infected for awhile. The infections seem to hurt more than the actual piercing. Anyways, hope it helped!

I'd think it would hurt, you poke a needle through your stomach, hmmm - no brainer.
Have you really thought about this or are you going for "fashion"?
What risks are involved when getting a belly button piercing?
Risks can include painful and potentially serious infection of the abdomen and blood poisoning. Improperly sterilized equipment can spread infections. An amateur body piercer can also cause nerve damage or scarring. Infection can still occur even when properly sterilized equipment is used. An infected piercing hurts, looks red and swollen, can weep and may feel hot to the touch. If your piercing looks infected, see a medical professional or body piercer for treatment.
Who should not get their belly button pierced?
If your belly button does not have the skin for the piercing to hold, the ring will likely migrate out. It will not let the belly button ring lye flat against your navel. An "outtie belly button" has more surface scar tissue to deal with, but a seasoned body piercer can pierce an outtie belly button. Most people choose a vertical piercing that enters inside the belly button and exits through the skin above the belly button.
How can you take care of a new belly button piercing?
To help the healing process of your belly button piercing, wash it twice every day. Note, over cleansing can interfere with your body's natural ability to fight off infection. Always sanitize your hands before touching your belly button ring. Apply a diluted salt solution to your piercing for five minutes in order to soak off dried material. Clean with soap that contains antibacterial properties and rotate it through the piercing for approximately one minute. Rinse your belly button piercing thoroughly; make sure no traces of soap are left, and then pat it dry.
How long will your belly button piercing take to heal and why can healing be difficult?
A completely healed belly button piercing can take up to one and a half years. Belly button piercings can be difficult to heal because of exposure to poorly chlorinated waters; also clothing and sweat can irritate the piercing. Factors that can slow the healing process include bad quality jewelry, stress, illness, lack of proper care and a poor diet. If not cared for properly a belly button piercing can take 1-2 years to heal and is an easy target for recurring infection.
During pregnancy can you leave your belly button ring in?
If you are pregnant you can wear your belly button ring up to the 5th or 6th month. Once the skin on your abdomen begins to significantly stretch you should take it out or upsize the gauge.
Can you remove your belly button ring?
If your piercing is new you will most likely be wearing a captive bead ring. I suggest going back to the shop you got the piercing at and ask them to remove it and replace it with your new body jewelry. If your belly button piercing is healed then wash your hands, your navel and the new body jewelry that you will be inserting. Next unscrew the ball that is in your piercing and pull the barbell down and out, then insert your new body jewelry into your piercing from the inside of the belly button up and out and screw the ball on.

Getting you belly button pierced does hurt. It goes through your skin and out of other way of your skin. Yes, you can pierce you button by yourself. It takes about 2 weeks to heal, but you might need it to get checked out if you have too much soreness and mucas liquid draining out.
Also, getting your belly button pierced might not be such a good idea because when you have a baby, if you want one, as you know, your stoamach grows larger and more wider. If you have your button pierced...the pregnancy strectches your belly button wider and more larger and rips it. If you don't want this to happen, then I would expect you not to get it peirced unless you take it out during and after pregnancy. It does hurt both ways if you take it out for pregnancy and getting it peirced. When you take it out and it heals, it may not hurt or have pain unless it is infected or your stoamach is too large.

It does not hurt and it's quick. Try Bactine in spray form, spray it a few times a day. It will heal fast and will not get infected. I hope this helps!

when you get it done dont tence up and make sure you eat 1 hr before you have it done. just close your eyes take a big breath before they do it. they clamp it and its down in one second. just do what they say and clean it . its worth it. its just like getting your ears pierced. just relax before you get it thats the whole point relaxing. its done in one second. the only thing that will make it hurt is if your jeans rub on it so wear low rise jeans. just do it. you can do it girl
