Guns would be top on my list. Cell phones are a great invention, but they bring out the rudeness in the humane race! Steel traps are a horrible invention. Cigarettes and all tobacco products are right up there with guns. Other than making the cigarette manufacturers rich, I can't think of one positive advantage to sucking poison into your body 20-30 times a day!

For every action is an equal and opposite re-action, the list is endless, Everything you see, read and hear has a Positive and negative effect on our lives, Every thing you put into your mouth will cause a negative reaction in your body just short of killing you right away but in time it will kill you. Adam and Eve lived 930 years just eating Fruits, nuts Berry's, Veg's and Herbs... What are you eating today?

The Guilotine, The Electirc chair.
I think these are probally two bad things that were invented in the world. As the guilotine back in teh days of the french revolution was used mainly to kill off those who did not comply with the leader at the time.

Most products and inventions have both positive and negative aspects, but you have to stop and think. Many negatives involve current and long term health. For examples....
Television to many people is the best thing since apple pie, yet it is also attributed to lack of exercise in America. Same with video games. Children nowadays cannot make up their own games using commonly found objects, like cardboard, twine, a ball, a thick branch from a tree...and many others. Children don't exercise their bodies or imagination.
Central heating eliminated the need to chop cords of wood to make fire, or haul coal lumps from a nearby coal refuse dump (or pay to have a wagon load delivered). But, now many people develop indoor allergies because of furnace ductwork being dirty.
Old houses had no fiberglass insulation. Instead the walls were filled with rags, newspapers, odds and ends, and sawdust. These compacted over the years, leaving nothing between the walls. This left many drafty houses. Today, new houses are built with full fiberglass insulation batting, and airtight door and window seals. Doctors blame the recycled indoor air and few drafts of fresh air to an increase in indoor asthma.
Children's pjs are made with fire retardant chemicals.... but many children now develop skin allergies....
We coat our carpets and drapes with preserving chemicals.... and entire schools get mysterious respiratory illnesses....
We now have air conditioning to keep us very cool........and many people develop more chronic sinus infections....
We have the best medicines in any developing country, but they are often not fully tested, or we don't yet know their full effects... leading to birth defects in pregnancy... or destroyed heart muscles... destroyed bone in joints....or death.
Antibiotics prevented deaths from simple uncomplicated pnuemonia, yet they are now so widely overused that nature has created "super bugs" of infection that are resistant to all antibiotics.
We no longer need to farm for our basic needs. But we face risk of our produce and vegetables being contaminated by water irrigation sources, improper sanitation, worker illness, etc.
And, so on.......

The AK-47 was a simple gun that kept hundreds of small conflicts from ending, and gave the ability for ground fighters to be very deadly and accurate. It was cheap to produce and easy to get so everybody could access this tool. In the middle east you can buy one for less than a live chicken. Since 1947 this gun has taken MILLIONS and MILLIONS of lives.

It's been shown that people who spend time in front of a computer are more depressed after 18 months than people who don't. It also takes time away from exercise and interacting with other people.

Cigarettes, anthrax, SUVs, reality shows, and there are a bunch more.
The Atomic Bomb comes to mind (though it saved millions of lives during WWII).
