IM WORRY ABOUT THE EPIDURAL BECAUSE I HEAR FROM SOME WOMEN THAT AFTER THE EPIDURAL THEY HAVE BACK PAIN EVERYTIME ESPECIALLY IN HUMID DAYS. IS THAT TRUE?

Yes, I have back pain from it and you can get intense migraines after wards as well. You can also get an infection from it. Not to mention that is a reason why so many women lose sooo much hair after delivery, its a side affect.

BUT, I think an epidural is YOUR choice. If your scared about it do some research on line or ask your Dr about it. discuss the fears with the anesthesiologist who comes in to do it. You have other choices. Just research your options.

No i had a Epidural and never had back pain from it. Everyone i know that has children have also had an Epidural and have never heard any complaints only benefits. A lot of people say no to the Epidural until they actually are in labor and feel how bad the contractions get. Once you are in labor and experience for yourself and see that you need some pain reliever then you can decide, it's not a choice you have to make prior to the birth. Don't worry it's not as bad as you think, it's a lot less painful than those contractions and the bearing down of the baby!!

Yes - had an epidural & I did suffer from lower back pain for about 6 months afterwards. I can't really recall that the humidity ever had anything to do with worsening the pain or not. It has subsided now, and, should I ever decide to have another child, I'd definitely ask for an epidural again. Good luck!

I have had both, a spinal and an epidural. I had the spinal when I had my daughter for an emergency cesarean. The only side effect from that was itching. With my son I had the epidural because the doctor said that I would be able to manage my pain more easily and more comfortably. The machine that they had hooked me up to unfortunately did not work so I had to have shots for pain in my thigh. I did not have any side effects from the epidural. I do not have any back pain and my son is 5 years old.

I had the epidural three times and the third time ..i had a little bit of tingling ..dull pain where the injection was made for like 3 months after the baby was born. After that it was no problem. My sister in Law and sister had such a MAJOR headache after their epidural wore off they actually had to go to the emergency room. Personally I haven't heard anything dangerous about the epidural. Hope this helps

I just had a baby around a year ago. Yes, I had an epidural, and the truth is our mothers tell us not to get it, and you really don't want to...until you start contracting...LOL....I finally got one when I reached a 6! It doesn't hurt, because you are distracted by the contracting....the onyl time Ican really feel any pain now is when I am on my period. Usually, there is some kind of back pain, but after the epidural, sometimes it's more than I can take!

I do not think the back pain has anything to do with the epidural, more just the toll having children does to your body. Back pain after children has been around long before the epidural. A lot of it has to do with wondering hips. This is where your hips do not go back into place after birth. If you have any back pains during birth from the seperation, then it may hurt the rest of your life. That is why you need to excersise!

I had an epidural with my first pregnancy and i plan to have one with my current pregnancy. I have never experienced any type of back pains since i had my first child. The only problem that i had with my epidural is that i had a c-section and i could still feel it when they cut me open. It was numb enough to where i wasn't in a whole lot of pain but i still felt it and so i was worried but once it was over, it was over...except for the awful shaking like you are freezing and shivering but you aren't cold.

I had epidural for c- section twice. First time was great - no pain at all. Second time it was inserted wrong and had no pain on left side but extreme pain on right - not kidding. About 6 hours later, the MD came in and reinserted it and it worked fine. This was in 93 and 95. No back pain afterward at all. Had a little swelling in one foot for a few days after but not big deal.

I did not experience any back pain after wards BUT I did have severe migrains that put me in the hospital the first week of my daughters home life, there was nothing that they gave me that helped during the hospital stay or after wards at home I have never in my life had such pain labor was a cake walk compared to those headaches after wards and I was told years later that it was due to the epidural that I had the migrains they lasted about 3 weeks.
