They are replacements for diesel fuels presently, and are manufactured from used cooking oil (from fryers) and can be manufactured in your own home, safely. What are some of the pros and cons of this technology?

Diesel powerewd machines are responsible for much more oil consumption than personal vehicles (farm equip, trucks, etc...) restaurants can sell their used oil. It will be recycled. Some cons may be the smell, or greasy emissions...

I think they are the wave of the future for our country's energy needs, and will one day completely replace our use of foreign oil, or maybe even our own oil for that matter.
Pros - they burn much cleaner than gasoline and diesel fuel; are much cheaper to find and harvest; are a renewable resource unlike oil; can relieve our dependence on other countries (especially countries at war) for energy sources.
Cons - Their production may not get the funding it needs, due to the longtime alliance between the big oil companies and the federal government - this seems to be the biggest obstacle in the way of mass production of bio fuels.

The Con is that diesel fuels are more polluting, probably even the biodiesel ones.
It might interest you to know you can't purchase a new, diesel powered vehicle in California, much less take said vehicle and convert it to biodiesel.
On the Pro side, it does permit re-use of waste cooking oil, but, who keeps 14 gallons of the stuff at home?

What could seriously be the cons of this technology? Seriously think about this, you can "GROW" fuel that is harmless to the atmosphere, humans, animals, and even insects. What about this technology could be harmful..Instead of drilling oil and continuing the cycle of air pollution and ozone depletion, you can actually reverse the situation for the better.

The best way to come by bio fuels is the use of garbage and sewage. Bio fuels will never be able to cope with American needs.I know the stories about Brazil but if you do a little research you will find that they have no where near the demand of even one of our states let alone the country. Bio fuels have their niche but that is all they will ever be.

Even George Bush thinks we need to find alternative solutions to our addiction to oil. Why the hell not?
Even if we were to use the corn oil it'll give Americans jobs... Which is what we should focus on. We get no national security from the middle east... If anything we're their national security. So we need to find a way to permanently get our as*es out of there, as well as find clean solutions to one of America's largest problems.

I know we don't generate enough leftover oils and grease to make the purchase of a diesel car worthwhile, and we eat lots meat and fat as it is. Its a nice thought but not at all practical for the individual home, its best left to restaurants to save their grease.
