One of the best.

Only downsides that I know, are the cost of housing (if that's a issue with you) and the cost of fuel, one of the highest in the country.

Other than that, it's about perfect.

Try North County, the beaches are good, and it's not quite as crowded.

I have lived here 3 months and I hate it! I have been in 2 accidents (both times I was rear-ended at at stopsign). There are way too many cars on the road and people are very rude and careless when they drive. And the people in general are stuck-up. The only good thing is that there is tons to do: within 2 miles of my apartment I can get any type of cusine I am craving. I am in the military so I cannot wait for my time in San Diego to be up.

Born and raised. Now living in South Dakota. As some other answers replied, it depends on what you want. Probably one of the most expensive places in the nation. About 250-350k to live in the 'hood'. Goes up from there. Too many negatives for me;beach days are over. Laid back locals? All gone- just a bunch of angry imports and wannabees. Oh yeah-only minutes from the most porous border in the world. Boxer/Fienstien for Senators. Good vacation spot, though. Try late fall-best time.

Absolutely not.. The border is too close and about to be overrun and the cost of living is horrible.. I just left Los Angeles, born and raised there, moved to a southern state, got a great job and loving life. The cost of living is skyrocketing in California and for no good reason. Move elsewhere.. you will be much happier, and have a lot more money in the long run...

Crowded, expensive and live life by the flow of the traffic.

Sunny, temperate and lots of thing to see and do.

Shangrila doesn't exist! Your question needs more parameters for any other answer to be meaningful. What are you looking for in a place to live?

It's a great place if you can afford it. If I were a multi-millionaire I would consider it as a place to live.

It's perfect weather wise. The question is, "can you afford it?" I hear it's a very expensive place to live.

Yes. But it is extremely expensive to live there.

It is presently, but soon to be overrun by Southerners, if you catch my drift.
