I've tried some marriage counselors in the past but they didn't seem to be the right fit. How do you find one that fits your needs/personality and is in your geographic area? Are there any good websites or other resources?

A marriage counselor is someone who plays a neutral party between you and your husband. You don't need to waste your money on that. You and your husband can handle your own problems. Why do you need someone who doesn't know anything about either of you to come into the situation? You and your husband know all your problems and you know everything about each other. You should feel comfortable enough with each other, to be able each other everything. Ask your mother. Ask your father. They are married, they know the problems. Go to your sister, someone who can turst and someone who has been in that boat before. Don't go to someone who doesn't know anything about either of you...it would be a waste of time and money. Try to work it out on your own, if you can't, and everything else has failed talk to someone out of the situation but knows you both to give good input. Good luck babe!

Is the counseling solely for you or both of you. Finding one that is for both of you might be tough. Are you both WILLING to do this? Or are you just jumping through a hoop? If you are female check with your local woman shelter, they have a list. The bad news is they usually favor the woman side.

If you are a male do not be hesitant to seek out a female therapist, they can offer great insight.

Either way I wish you the best of luck.
