Get iTunes. Tell it to import songs in mp3 format. Highlight the song(s) you want to convert. Go to tools->convert to mp3. Should work. Always has for me. I think Windows Media player can do this too, but I'm not sure how its done. Consult the manual.

Open it in Windows Media Player, then Save it as an MP3 file.
Open Windows Media Player,
Go to File, Open, Browse, and find the .wav file you want to convert. Click Open.
Then go back to File, and Choose Save As, this will let you designte the type of file to save it as.
If this doesnt work, you can use the windows mp3 converter if you have windows plus installed.
As a third option, you may have to find a specific program that will convert it for you. Go to www.download.com and do a search.
Good Luck !!

There is shareware available to do this for free, but beware... some load a bunch of crap onto your PC and are more trouble than they are worth.
Here are a few I found on a quick search:
www.convertmp3.net

Good luck!
