I would never try Castor oil. I have heard all the stories about how great it works but there are as many stories about how it didn't work and caused terrible diarrhea instead.
The baby will be ready when it is ready. Or the doctor may have to induce. My first went late one week and then my water broke and the doctor had to use pitocin to start my labor and the second was one day late when my water broke. Again, my labor didn't start so the doc used pitocin.
With baby number one, nothing worked (short of lots of pitocin). Pretty much everything (with the exception of some herbs) is just a coincidence of labor starting when it would have started anyway (or maybe being helped along by a few hours but not a big deal).
Try to be patient. Your little person will be here soon.
Good Luck

Castor oil? No, yuck! Just take a long walk through the mall.
Besides, being only one day past your due date is not anything to worry about. In my first pregnancy, I went into labor more than a week ahead of my "due date" but after I delivered, they determied that I was in fact more than a week LATE. So, those things are never accurate. Only an educated estimate.

Don't do anything yourself to try to speed it up. It will only make labor worse! Try walking!!! I went a week past my due date with my first and i thought he was never coming. So i went walking at the mall for a few hours and the next day is when my contractions started. Also i was dilated to a 1cm for 2 weeks and actually stopped dilating so the hospital gave me something to speed up contractions so i would dilate. Hang in there, you'll be fine.

If you are only 60% effaced, they may have messed up your due date. Remember it is only an average, and docs miss the right date of conception all the time. It's not exact.
If you want to hurry things along, then have sex and walk and walk, and walk. The chemicals in male ejaculate cause things to move along more quickly, and if you have an orgasm, it can encourage contractions to start. Walking or other not too strenuous exercise for an extended period of time can also help trigger labour.

no all that will do is make you sick period.. relax is what you should do sleep and take it easy you are not really overdue yet they can be wrong on the due date by 2 weeks and if you are starting to diolate that is a good thing it means it is going as planned... as long as your dr thinks you and the baby are doing fine dont rush this along.. good luck and congradulations

No, I did that and it didnt work. I would say walk. Seriously that can help bring on contractions, if your body is ready to go into labor. I was told to do squats by my granny, that seemed to help bring the baby down lower.
Really unless you wanna be induced, you should wait. I know it is hard when you are anticipating a miracle. Good luck.

Do not use castor oil unless you have adequate supervision from a doctor or midwife. It could cause the baby to expel meconium.
Also not that one day late does not make you overdue.

No, you might have and adverse reaction unless you've taken it before. Try to keep busy and find something to take your mind off the baby, but stay close to home since it sounds like the baby won't be taking it's time once labor starts.

NO!!! Your due date is only an estimate so you may not be technically late. Let this progress as it should, no need to possibly danger yourself or the baby!
Sex helps, a nice long walk could get things rolling...

I would not recommend it.
At the least it will make you sick to your stomach. And not work at all. Then all you did is make yourself weak for nothing. (Seen it not a pretty sight)
I would suggest you have a orgasm. It releases stress and hormones. And because your due it may help things along a little faster. ( this has been recommended to me personally with my 3 boys and I have suggested this to two women do this to hurry things along...It worked with both women, they started labor with in 2 days.)"One baby girl one boy"
