I do read them with a couple of exceptions. I do not read long cut and paste answers, I think that practice shows a lack of original thought. Post your own comments and then a link to source. I do not read long answers which are designed merely to denigrate or slander rather than educate or enlighten. The last situation is those answers which were original the first time, but are then cut and paste into almost every question they answer.

As a writer of the extremely long answers, yes I do read them. When the question requires a long answer, I write one to answer as fully as possible. Plus, after all, the point of Yahoo Answers is to answer someone's question. If I feel that the asker needs lots of info and citations, then I'll provide it.

specific, I do, hiya, for people who're interpreting this, I do a variety of of decrease-n-paste, the reason I gain this is because of the fact i don't sort quickly, i'm a 'hunt-n-p.c.. typer, Typing replace into an optionally available at college and not required interior the 70's. The issues that I decrease-n-paste are matters that I agree on after gaining knowledge of them, and that i've got found out that if i attempt to make the attempt to sort them out, it in maximum all likelyhood does not be examine as many human beings do not examine mush further previous the 5th or 6th answer So I paste it as quickly as i'm able to to get my answer examine as quickly as conceivable

Depends on who wrote it and the topic. If it's just a diatribe, no. If it a cut and paste, no.
There are several people here who have very interesting thoughts, and it's interesting to read their views regardless of the politics.

I always read the long answers .
I also tend to post long answers .It is as much for my understanding as for the understanding of others who may actually be interested .
The truth and understanding of most problems is simple and over looked .
True we have problems that will never go away but we can make this short life better for everyone concerned .
How is what most people would like to know revolves around a simple philosophy that goes overlooked all the time .
Work is the energy applied to the accomplishment of a goal .Wasted work is that which governments due .
It is not the goal of the government to end crime or poverty or provide anyone with anything .
It is for its own survival .
I have always worked at a job that has a final end to it . Installing pay phones ,security systems , building homes ,painting a room and during or after the task is done I get paid for it . I literally work myself out of a job everyday and thats how it should be .
Imagine if I was A government worker for a minute , before I ever got finished some one would come along and change what I had already done on the way to finishing .
Like the goal would be to provide a city with enough pay phones that each person could walk less then a half a mile to a phone . Now before this would be completed some one would come along and add a booth , then a concrete barrier to prevent cars from running into people in the booths and then lights so you could see at night and then books to look up numbers and then a side walk to reach the phone .So you can see it never ends because the amount of money coming in is adjusted all the time to provide more work . Nothing ever really gets done right from the start . No government building goes up that within a year remodeling has not begun . People complain and complain about how the office was designed and how to become more efficient we need to correct ,move, install ,relocate, move everything, to suite the needs of the people working there to make them happy . This never ends .They want to move higher lower to the north side or the east side and this is how our taxes get spent .
Real working Americans are getting fed up with all this waste .
I could just as soon shoot a government employee as look at them .
They are special people after all most of them went to college and now sit at a desk collecting a check for deciding how others should live . Like can I build an addition to my home on my land .Well it must be filed with the building department and approved before construction may begin . A record of inspections and certified installers licensed by the state must do the work . They must posses proper insurance and bonds and have passed required tests to be able to install a toilet .
Now for most of us this is just an effort to protect the people from unscrupulous contractors who would swindle hard working Americans .Like charging 4000 dollars to pave a driveway when in fact all they did was dump black paint all over it . These people are in the minority and a big noise is made about the 100,000 swindled from old folks .I would rather pay them back and fix the driveway for free so to speak then build a 5 story 300,000 square foot office to keep records of licensed contractors renewal applications and all the crap we have now to save us from spending a few hundred thousand dollars to right a wrong .
On top of that if we catch the guy we give him free room and board for two years at a cost of 20,000 dollars .
Makes me want to puke on a daily basis when i hear people speak about democrats republicans and governments needs . It has one purpose and that is to provide a defense of our shores and lands from foreign invaders .The job they have failed to do . Well anyhow I hate government and anyone who works for them . We can take care of ourselves And as for traffic cops give people the right to shoot bad drivers and soon we would need little court time for judges in traffic court or jails for bad drivers .
See we passed off our responsibility on people who are in capable of solving the problem alone and need everyones help .
Drunk drivers slap a colored bracelet on that prevents anyone from selling them booze . Those caught providing booze lose that job . It is an important job and should not be done by anyone for 7.25 an hour .
Instead people with social service degrees could man cash registers and hand out literature to get some people to re-evaluate drinking habits that may prove to be harmful . Cashiers who make fat people put back the twinkies and ho ho's . When we all take care of those around us instead of making it someone else job we will be happier . People really do thrive on helping others if given the chance .

It depends on if it was written by the person or if it is cut and paste. I like getting answers and if they are long they are long.

Depending if I know the person who wrote it and expect it to be good. If the beginning part of it looks like it sucks, I'll just move on. Its its copy and paste, I move on too

No. People like that, most of whom just copy/paste, should get a blog or something.
I always ignore them. 200 words is my limit.
