Senseless killing. Why would anyone murder an innocent baby when so many infertile couples would give anything to adopt and love it?

Cant see the object of this question, the answers you will get will depend mainly on the religion of whoever is answering!
But as you've addressed this to ya'll I will assume its open even to us atheists? Opinions will also differ among atheists but of course wont be based on any religious theory.
My opinion (for what its worth) is that to abort or not is the sole choice and responsibility of the Mother to be, or not to be, that is the question ! Sounds a bit like Shakespeare doesn't it?
However the questions this choice will raise are mind boggling to say the least, (still nothing to do with religion)!
Why not have it and arrange adoption? Plenty of folk looking to adopt.
Would you be able to cope with the thought that you had deliberately aborted? Can you convince yourself that the medical opinions are true about the very young child not really being human but merely some sort of growth in the belly, that has no feeling or mind?
I'm sure many thousands of women, maybe millions have gone through these problems, I'm really very glad I'm not a woman.
My opinion remains the same, the sole choice should be with the Mother to be. I do not envy any one that has to make that choice.
And to have to listen to other religious ideas on the subject would be enough to do anyones head in!

That is a very controversial question. I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason, and if you get pregnant, its because that is what was intended for your life. Being pregnant and thinking about all of the responsibility is scary, but you don't want to do something that you will regret. That fetus is still a living thing, and as far as im concerned, you would be taking away a precious life that was meant to be a gift from God! You need to give yourself plenty of time to think about what a huge decision that is. When I found out that i was pregnant, i was 17 and scared, but then i was excited and to feel that little miracle growing inside of you is the most amazing feeling in the world! Now i have the most beautiful 6 and a half month old son and I never in my life thought that i could experience this level of happiness! It is the best thing in the world to come home from work to a smiling baby that I brought into this world! If you aren't ready for a child, you should be a little more careful about having sex. You cant just sleep with someone, get pregnant and discard of your child as if it were a peice of garbage off of the side of the street! If you made the "mistake" of getting pregnant, at least carry out the pregnancy and if you still don't want to keep the child after 9 months of him living inside of you, then give it up for adoption. There are plenty of people that would love to have a child, but cant conceive. To take away an innocent life is just WRONG!!!!

Quite honestly, it turns my stomach.
Science tells us life begins at conception. The point where the egg and sperm meet.
Law tells us that a fetus can be aborted up to a certain time during pregnancy.
We all know that a woman doesn't get pregnant with an alien or something so why is it that we don't consider what she is carrying a baby until a certain point? In fact, they refer to it a s a choice and women's rights.
What has happened is people try to cover up the fact that it (the fetus/baby) is a person and that abortion gets "rid" of it. Then, we'd view it as murder. Heaven forbid we have a guilty conscience.
Women go through a point of sever depression either immediately after the abortion or in a small period following. Thats even for the women who viewed it as a quick fix. Even the men will have periods of depression or unexpained grief.
My father was married previously and had an abortion with his first wife. He still grieves over that to this day. He regrets that just because it was something they did not want at the time, they "got rid" of it.
For everyone who is pro-choice, I encourage you to pick up an picture pamphlet about abortion. Even abortions done at 2 and 3 months are interesting. You can actually see the mini-form of a baby with hands, fingers, feet etc. Just because its not visible, doesn't mean that its not real or doesn't exist.

I personally wouldn't do it. And in the case of rape I think the person should take the morning after pill just in case they were going to end up pregnant. If people saw what happens in the womb during an abortion I think they would change their mind if they have a good heart. I had an opportunity to watch a video I couldn't watch the rest of the video, it was so heartbreaking to see the baby try to move from that instrument that was about to destroy it, it hurts alot to see that. Also I don't know why people have sex then turn around and get all paranoid and scared when they find out they're pregnant as if they didn't know they could, and to turn around and want to kill the baby is so very sad an heartless, I say STOP being so irresponsible to those who act this way. You asked for honesty and there it is, yes, I know I'll get alot of thumbs down but WHO CARES!!!! That doesn't change my view.

it saved my life. by having an abortion i discovered I had cancerous cells around my cervix. the fetuses life??? what about mine?

BTW the HYPOCTIRES on here really annoy me... how can abortion be bad except for rape cases???? Doesn't that baby have as much right to live as the others??? U are either against it, or not....FULL STOP but then thats typical of all u pro-lifers. all your priorities are to suit your own needs. most of u haven't got a clue about real life, u are all to busy judging everybody else!

it is a well known fact that most abortions are carried out before 8 weeks. All this "baby moving away from the surgical instruments" is all propaganda. Lets put this into perspective people, a fetus at 8 weeks in totally incapable of that...not that many have late abortions without a good medical reason!

there are plenty of methods of birth control and are attainable
with little or no money. i think an abortion should only be considered with special circumstances such as a result of pregnancy after being raped, for a very young girl that is still a child herself, or if you know something is wrong with the baby or
yourself and even then i think it would be an extremely difficult
decision. i do think that women should have options but abortion
should be the absolute last resort.
i knew a woman who as a young teenager gave up her first
baby for adoption, had a second baby a couple of years later
that she kept and over the next several years had two or three
more pregrancies each ending in abortion, she has since had
two more pregrancies and have kept both children.
her story infuriates me.

I think that having an opinion one was or the other is fine, because at least you are thinking, however the defense of "what if the woman is raped" is absolute nonsense and in my opinion undermines any argument you may have. The majority of rapes are for simple birth control, and FAR less than 1% of abortions are because the woman was raped.

If you support abortion, fine. But don't back up your opinion using this argument, because it only makes you appear uninformed and ignorant.

I personally think it is wrong and do not believe in it. The only time I might think it is okay is if someone was raped. If two people decided to have sex and a pregnancy resulted of that, then I think those two people should take responsibility for their actions. I think abortion is a cowardly escape to what could be a beautiful thing. I especially hate that people use abortions as birth control methods (I actually know a few that have).

I feel abortion is murder, no matter which way you look at it. I am religious, but that's not the only reason I feel the way I do. I do not look down on people that have had abortions, to each his own, but I could never do it. I was almost aborted by my birth mom, she walked in and walked right back out. Thank God that she changed her mind. If you can't take care of the baby adoption is a good route to take. I'm adopted and I turned out great, I met my birth mom and we have a wonderful relationship. It all works out in the end, have faith and everything ends the way it was meant to end. That's the best I can do!! ;)

This is a tough topic on alot of people. I am not a religious person but I know I'm going to sound like one, but I think abortion is murder-under certain circumstances,if God did not entend you to have the child in question then you wouldn't be pregnant! As well as if your responsable enough to have sex than you should be responsable enough to take on responsablities for your actions.
BUT.....
the other side of things is that I also feel that it is a mothers choice when the circumstances involve sexual abuse.
