you will need a modem still, well if you want to use wireless internet then you will more specifically need a wireless modem/router.
This will connect to the internet from your phoneline/cable and then wirelessly send the internet signal over to your pc.
They are usually available free as part of the offer when you sign up to an internet provider.

i presume you mean broadband, as a 56k modem is no use.

The modem you talk of (a dial up modem) is not needed to access a wireless network as the traffic is all routed through the wireless connection. If at some point you wish to use a 52KB or even 28KB dial up connection then USB dial up modems can be picked up for as little as £15.

You will connect using your wireless card via a wireless router (these usually have a built in modem) and an internet connection.

Unless you use a modem/router then yes you will need a modem to connect to the net.

before everything you're able to purchase a wlan router(possibly a community card too, if the laptop doesnt have one) then you certainly can connect your old laptop with a community cable with the wlan router and the pc via way of wlan and you will be able to apply laptop and the pc on the comparable time
