to tell you the truth Vick did much better this season than last few season.
so ok, I'll explain why i THINK Young is said to be a better QB than Vick, even tho i don't totally agree.
there are several reasons why people say Vince Young is better.
first it is the Age vs. Performance issue. If you are young (rookie or 2nd year) and play slightly worse than a Veteran of 6 year or more, you are considered better, only because you have potential to be even better, at 6th year you are pretty much at your peak.
2ndly Young Runs when he senses danger and has good vision downfield. Vick runs when he gets into trouble, and by then it is too late. Vick stays in the pocket TOO long. i guess Size matter a bit more here, since Vick is 6'0" (considered short for a QB) and Vince Young is 6'5" (considered good height). just because of the height issue, Young actually can see better downfield.
the thing that hurt Vick is Drew Brees. they are both 6'0" and from the same draft class. Vick first overall pick, Drew Brees 32 overall pick. some people speculated that 6'0" tall QBs can't throw the ball with touch down field well because they can't see over their linemen's heads well. that is the case for Vick, in which it seem almost all his balls thrown deep with an arch seems to be easily swated or picked off, BUT Drew Brees does this kind of pass perfectly and get a good % of those passes caught.
another point is Young did not play the entire year, and he is a rookie, so his first few games he did pretty lousy.
13 INTs in less games than Vick is pretty bad, but you also did not put how much rushing TDs they each have. Vick has 2 Young has 7. so totally TDs, they come up almost even.
Now it is not all Vick's fault for that 75.4 QB rating...in fact he should be QB of the year having over a 50.0 QB rating with the WR he has. they all have butterfingers, and can't even catch the ball if their life depended on it.
the one MAJOR thing that hurt VIck is that he was the first pick overall in 2001, in which no matter what everyone expects so much out of the first overall pick. 2nd overall pick just need to do half of what the first overall pick did to be considered great. if vick was drafted later, i doubt we would be having conversations about how vick does this wrong or he doest that wrong, etc.

because Vicks old news...Young is new and towards the end of the season his team was winning...Vicks style hasnt gotten the Falcons any where so people are ready for a change, hoping the Falcons may turn around...i see young as the next Vick...a lot of hype in the beginning but not much results. theyre both phenomenal athletes but theyre style doesnt win play off games or championships...look at the super bowl champs of the past and present...majority are drop back, pocket passers...

well, it seems you're only as good as what you accomplished in the last 15 minutes these days
and NO he didn't get arrested, geeeeze people get your facts straight
its so funny you posted this
when Young RAN in that touch down and every one jumped on the bandwagon, I said then oh, but its wrong for Vick to run it in
the tide will change someone will be all that or the worst of by tomorrow
I don't like what he did , but I don't know if a person can be charged based on the fact the container might have had pot in it at one time , or fished out of another container not taken directly from him
I personally prefer Vick, over Young yep I said so ,, and??????????

Vince Young is being judged by his potential and not by how he is currently playing.
Michael Vick is being judged by his past, personal issues, and most importantly the fact that they have not won a superbowl with a guy who was to be the highest impact player in the sport.
In all honesty Vick is probably being judged too harshly and Young is still riding the image of the "Golden Boy" who beat USC.

Good question. Remeber when Vick first started? It was the same BS about him. Young will end up in the same position as Vick. That style of QB success is short lived and erractic at best. Young SHOULD NOT have been the ROY.

Because Vince Young plays on a bad team and over-achieves. Michael (Chong) Vick plays on a good team and is an under achiever with a terrible attitude.

Because Vick has been a target since he got into the league. People are looking for reasons for him to fail. A smart coach would build a team around him, and not ask him to change a thing that he does. Of course his problems off the field don't help at all.

because vicks players cant hold on to the ball anymore and his offensive line isnt holding up for him. and then the whole flipping everone off at home was not good for him. you know how everyone gets when a rookie comes around.

Because YOUNG IS A ROOKIE. Alot of ROOKIE QBs ARE RUNNERS, then settle down and PASS. That is how it works in the NFL. You are used to RUNNING IN COLLEGE so that is how you think.

Your generalizing too much. Quit saying, "everyone." I don't agree with the analysis you just cited. I think Michael Vick is an amazing quaterback, one of a kind, and a future hall of famer.
