I'm about to buy a 2000 Yamaha Blaster for $600.00
It needs two things, new top end and center case gasket.
The piston only gets 100psi, and it needs me.
How many hours do you think it will take to do these two things?
and if ANYONE is willing to help, I have other qestions you can IM me, mikeaj92 in yahoo.
But doing these two things; is the work easy, just a long time?

I've done a top end rebuild on the Blaster 3 times. It not very difficult but it will take some time and the last thing you should do is rush it. Be sure you have the necessary tools (expecially torque wrenches). I would buy a top end rebuild kit which comes with piston, rings, and necessary gaskets.
You are going to have to send the top end to get bored out and that shop usually will want to sell you the corresponding piston as well. While your at it you should think about bumping it up to 220cc's since the stock motor is pretty weak.
I forgot to add the most important think. Buy the service manual from Yamaha. You could probably find it online for about $30. It will tell you how to do everything.. step by step. Best $30 you'll ever spend.

Two strokes are generally very easy to work on. I suggest a new cylinder, piston, rings, and gasket set. However, you can do it without a new cylinder. Removing the engine should be the hardest part, you will probably need a service manual. And be sure to label every wire and hose you take off on both ends to be sure you can easily put it back together

the top end is a easy fix,and yes you should re bore the jug,and get a new piston.the gasket in the case is a lot more complicated and if you are not comfortable tearing about the transmission take it to a shop.
