On my PC this company Spy Soldier has loaded adware onto my computer, it keeps coming up as a fake alert "You have adware, upgrade to Spy Sweeper today" and I can't locate it, or get rid of it. Does anybody know how I can find out where it is and delete it? I have Spy Sweeper, but it's not catching it. Help please.

Oh crap.
This is so easy to fix, but so hard to explain.

You need to Ctrl+Alt+Del and see what is running in the background. Try to find what shouldn't be running.

Write that info down.
A program called "highjackthis" can give you a list of programs running on startup, with more details.

You need to manually delete those bad files in Safe Mode.

The root directory on your PC should be empty.

The temp folders should be empty.

c:\system32\ should be checked for "recent" files that look suspicious

Run RegEdit and find links to files that are bad, then remove those entries.

A regcleaning program...

Download this! It will display Startup programs that you can remove.

I've been using two solid free spyware programs for years and I've really grown to like them. They complement each other nicely, so I use them both. They can both be downloaded from downloads.com.

SpyBot Search & Destroy
Adaware Personal SE

Give them both a try. I think you'll like them.

Be sure to use the links below. A Google search will turn up a bunch of phony web sites that look like the real deal but are fakes and possibly dangerous.

Try this link, the tool is OK.

Also try adaware from Lavasoft. Most people I know use both.

Both are free.
