Are the American people ready for an elected president who was educated in a Madrassa as a young boy and has not been forthcoming about his Muslim heritage? This is the question Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s camp is asking about Sen. Barack Obama.

An investigation of Mr. Obama by political opponents within the Democratic Party has discovered that Mr. Obama was raised as a Muslim by his stepfather in Indonesia. Sources close to the background check, which has not yet been released, said Mr. Obama, 45, spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia.

"He was a Muslim, but he concealed it," the source said. "His opponents within the Democrats hope this will become a major issue in the campaign." Sources said the background check, conducted by researchers connected to Senator Clinton, disclosed details of Mr. Obama's Muslim past. The sources said the Clinton camp concluded the Illinois De

1) You copied this from Locutus' prior question. Did you check the Enquirer-type source??? Not to be believed in its entirety.

2) Hillary is just as much a dirty politician as any man running for office.

3)The article makes it sound like he was studying in a seminary--It was a school he went to before he was 10, for God's sake! (How many of you attended parochial schools that were not of your faith, or of a faith you later turned your back on? Come on!! Ages 6-10???? That really makes him a Muslim, doesn't it??)

4) Isn't there some way to have an election without all this dirt? Remember the poor guy who had to withdraw because he had once had a mental illness?? One that was cured!! I guess we have to eliminate anyone who ever had chicken pox--he might side with birds.....

This is a perfect example why Hillary does not need to be President. It's one thing to find dirt on somebody, but to play on the fears of the American people. Muslim or anybody who looks to be a Muslim have been getting mistreated in this country since 911. And the fact that she's going to say "By the way the black man just happens to be a Muslim." So what we've had Christian Presidents.

We should be trying to embrace race and other peoples religion. But she chooses to use stereotypes to get into office continuing separate, instead of bringing people together. Personally I'm offended by Hillary Clinton.

Yes I think it is a good thing. Obama has been a media celeb for so long now. Let's get the truth out there. I am not Dem. by the way. But as the days go by, am beginning to think that Ole Hillary just might have some good points.

She did a typically Clinton thing. She is trying to scare people away from the one that she sees as her main competitor. She doesn't have a platform that offers any answers so all she can do is the mud slinging thing to try to eliminate the competition. Didn't Palosi just swear in a Muslim congressman? and PLEASE Hillary. If you are listening, don't mess up our health care any worse than you already have!!!

Wow, I knew that he once lived in indonesia, but I didn't know that he was brought up as a Muslim.

I am a bit surprised by this news, but according to my experience living in Indonesia, the majority of Muslims there are moderate. They are not the radical types that blow themsleves up.

the fact that obama never told it = try to hide it, this story is surprised me. obviously both his father and step-father are moslem. and obviously obama removed his hussein name to cover it. my worst scenario is that obama has a vision/dream to become usa president, and he know that it will be impossible if he is moslem, so he convert to christian. remember anything is possible, especially in politic. if an ex-moslem become usa president, it is a big irony. if somebody who pretend to be christian (but actually still a moslem at heart), it will be the biggest irony. Someone change his religion for his ambition is not impossible.

I am happy if Indonesia coming to spotlight (not for tsunami), google everything about it, don't forget to check about 14 May 1998 genocide which moslem kill and rape chinese. which of course most of you don't know about, and which of course Indonesian government will keep on deny it if you ask.
anyway, i think obama has a bright future to become president of kenya. or we will not mind if he sit on senate.
ps: i dont' hate good moslem , there are a lot of good moslem out there. but i hope good moslem must really do something to bad moslem who make moslem world look bad. because what i see now, good moslem are weak.

She did a good thing. We Southerners demand pork on the White House table and a dog in the living room.

Billary trashed their opponents in 1992 and 1996 as well, why stop now. It's not good or bad, it's politics.

I think she did a good thing. She starting flinging mud first which never makes you look good. Still voting for Obama. Which bites because I was leaning toward Hillary.

Its all politics, both seeking the presidency, so there'll be some mud to sling, yet what politicians are is anything but religious!
