if you have'nt got a memory card and your using a usb cable it wont work..you need a bluetooth device...hope this helps

USB cables for phones are not the most reliable of things. My advice is to buy a memory card (if you don't have one already) and a USB memory card reader. Once plugged in your pc will see it as an external hard drive and you simply drag and drop files to wherever you need them. Also, the Sony memory cards come formatted with separate folders for music, images etc so it's even easier. One more positive thing is a multi card reader will ensure when you upgrade you won't have ot bother installing mobile phone software time and time again

As they say above, you have to install the software before plugging it into your PC.
Try removing it and re-installing from the disk.
Also, depends if you're trying to use it in File Transfer mode or Phone mode... if File transfer then you need to download some extra drivers from www.sony-ericsson.co.uk
When i first got my phone I had to manually install the drivers from Device Manager, but on my new Pc I installed the software and it picked it up no problems.

Are you using Bluetooth or USB .? ..if its Bluetooth ...make sure your Phone is Visible.et etc..... If it is via the cable ...it is sometimes a wee bit tempremental... try restarting the comp etc... best advise is to get someone who is clued up to help you good luck
