Water is not limitless. If we don't conserve it we won't have a lot of it in the future. That spells disaster for the flora and fauna of the earth as well as the earth itself. We may end up a dead planet just like our surrounding neighbors.

Although 75% of the Earth is covered by water, clean fresh water is much more limited. In many areas, population has grown to the point where all available fresh water is being consumed. Additional water can always be had, but often at too steep a price to be feasible. So conservation becomes the best way to make sure there's enough water for all the various needs.

Yet at the same time they charge their customers extra money to provide those repairs.

While there is a limited supply on earth, it gets recycled so, with proper management, water conservation shouldn't be needed in any nation that has plentiful rainfall.
