My teacher allows us and promotes the use of calculators and programs etc.

I already know how to do most math problems, but I often write them down wrong or do stupid mistakes, and a calculator that can do alot of things would be a great help.

Looking for something that can solve for x or y all by itself etc.

Please don't get all technical and say you need more information, just give me some links to what you might think would be the most help to me! Thanks!

Not sure what the newest version is but look for Texas Instrument (TI-insert newest number here LOL) calculators. They are awesome for Algebra. That's what we used in high school and I had to buy one in college. But they are $100+

I use this one to check myself:

Never to get the answer by cheating...so I hope you won't cheat either.

Oh...ok...sorry, didn't realize you meant an actual calculator. Well the other guys are probably right...a lot of people use TI-83. I have used a Hewlett-Packard 48Gs since college in the early 90s, and I still love it...but it's a little harder to use than most modern calculators.

I'm partial to the TI-85.

the TI 83 is a really good graphing calculator. It will work for your math classes up to trig and maybe even up to pre clac. I used one from algebra up to trig and absolutely loved it. I would've been lost without it. They are kinda expensive but they're worth it.

Your teacher has done you a great disservice. You already own the best calculator for algebra, your brain. For operations too tedious to be done quickly, a "simple" scientific calculator comes in handy. Once you have mastered algebra, then, and only then, should you consider purchase of a calculator that will perform any solutions for you.
