I cant sleep. Even after taking 3 zimovane, I might drop off for an hour. I have bags under my eyes from lack of sleep even though I am only 29 yrs old. My G.P. is not helping me, just increased my sleeping pills. I will not take dope. I have a good job & no worries that might contribute.

I would respectfully suggest you visit a different doctor. From what you say, you are actually overdosing on Zimovane. The normal dose is half a tablet at night, increasing to one and a half in extreme cases. Seek help as soon as possible. There is an underlying reason for your condition that needs addressing without delay.

Sudden onset of insomnia, can happen for one of several reasons and can affect as much as 52 percent of the american population. Most people in the medical proffession, contribute it to being a psychological factor rather than a psychiological factor. In that case doctors think the easiest way to make the symptoms go away is to prescribe benzodiaphines otherwise known as Valium, Zanax, Clonopin, Diazapam, Temazapam, etc.Allthough these medications are quite effecient they never really treat the underlying problem and more often than not the patient is left with the same problem after medication therapy stops. Phisologically insomnia could be a symptom of a disease and or condition. Here are some of the conditions that may cause insomnia... Sleep Apnea,Thryoid disorder's.Restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, etc.Other reasons can be quite obvious... Stress, Overwork, Anxiety, etc.
If there was one thing I think america overlooks when it comes to getting a proper nights sleep.Would have to be proper sleep hygeine.Sleep hygeine is essential to getting a proper nights sleep.Allthough derived from common sense.Sleep hygeine can be quite effective.
First of all, cut all caffeine out of your diet after 5 pm every night. And im not just talking sodas! An 8 ounce bar of chocolate contains as much caffeine as a cup of decaf coffee,Tea is also flooded with caffeine, if you like teas switch to herbal after 5 pm every night.Check labels of the foods you eat, you would be surprised at how much caffeine you could find in normal everyday food.Studies have shown that caffeine can stay in your system up to 12 hours after ingestion. Some people can drink a cup of coffee before bed but that usually isint the norm.
Whatever you do, do not excersise 3 hours before you are to go to bed.Excersise boosts your metabolism and literally gives you " a second wind"
If you cannot sleep, get out of bed!! If you do not fall asleep within 30 minutes, get out of bed.Do something that does not require a lot of work or concentration.Read a book, watch a tv program, knit, etc. Staying in bed will only make you look at the clock every hour and count how much time you have till you get up.That alone can drive anyone crazy.
If you can, try not to smoke an hour before bed, nicotine can contribute to insomnia.

But most of all,If you are not happy with the treatment plan your doctor has set for you.By all means get a second opinion.Your GP should have screened you for underlying medical conditions to rule out other conditions.I am assuming he hasent by way of your question.
I know your tired. I can sympathize with you, I have had the same problems as you.Good luck!

I hope I can be of some help - even a little. I am no expert, but I will do my best. I have heard of sleep disorder clinics that help people. Can you look it up on the web and see if there is a sleep disorder clinic in your area?
Next: Do you drink anything with caffeine in it? If so, you might want to stop for a while. Are you taking any other sort of stimulants - even certain vitamins and herbs may be too stimulating for you right now.
Next: Exercise is good for relaxing the body and helping you get tired. Just do not exercise strenuously right before bed-time. Also, try acupuncture. Also, slow, deep breathing. What about the temperature and conditions of the room you are sleeping in? Is is dark and quiet enough? Is your bedding clean?
good luck.

Hello Jamie .First and foremost STOP taking the pills 3 zimovane is
poison and you are not helping yourself .A good long brisk walk 3r4 hrs before bed might help as this releases soratonin from the brain
and works better without pills .No food or drinks after 6r7pm is beneficial also .Be patient and things will change Good luck .

you should not be taking sleeping pills at your age! They are adddictive and the longer you take them the more you will need to take. Try eating a healthy balanced diet, taking part in gentle excercise before bedtime(swimming is good for the soul and body!) Or you could even try relaxation techniques, there are many recordings on the market to buy.Forget the dope too.that just leads to other things!A milky drink and hot bath always works for me, try that!

I have zimovane zopiclone and it doesn't help. Sometimes I am awake all night . Try to relax. If you can't sleep, get up and do something. I can't read but perhaps you can. Maybe you don't need much sleep
Good luck. Please keep off the pills
PS be careful with diazepam (valium) It is addictive

Ask your doctor about a medication for depression. Just stay on it long enough to get back into a good sleep pattern.
Or, ask him/her about Ambien CR .625 mg. It's not addictive, helps you get to sleep fast and stay asleep all night with no hangover in the morning.
Also there's herbal teas that claim to relax you to go to sleep. Also an herbal pill called Vilarian Root. It's a capsule and smells funny, but it relaxes you and it's natural. Go to a health food store and see what they recommend to help you sleep.

Try to avoid caffeine after lunch time. Have the bedroom window slightly open. Apparently you get a deeper sleep when your body has cooled down. Also avoid music in the evening, it stimulates the mind. Hope this helps. I've been there.

Human brain produces melatonin, a substance that relaxes you, when it is time to sleep. When melatonin production drops for any number of reasons a person can have trouble falling asleep. 100% pure tart montmorency cherry concentrate is loaded with natural melatonin that could help you if this is the case. It's not a drug, it's a dietary supplement. Also, cut out all the caffeine (even decaf tea and coffee) and sugar from your diet.

Your mind is obviously active on something at night that makes you restless, something in your subconscious. Have you asked you doctor to refer you to a therapist, this might help. You dont want to overdo the sleeping pills and become dependant on them.Im not sleeping either actually - Im going to see the doctor.
