Boston is 851 air miles from Chicago.

If you really meant by plain, it is roughly the distance from Chicago to Wichita to Dallas to Atlanta to Boston. There may be a route through Canada which skirts all the mountains, but I'm not aware of it.

It is approximately the same distance as by train or by airplane or by car traveling over our fruited plains. It is about 1015 miles.
