Either a country OR society. You see babies dying of famine that are 2 or 3 months old? Why did u have them? were you not starving when you conceived them? There was no hint that things were getting bad.
I would be afraid to have kids in our (western) society, never mind in a place where food is scarce.
I know not everything is cut and dry but i'd like to understand better

Probably becuase they have no sources of birth control. If they did not have any more kids then the whole country would end up dying. The babies that are dying are doing so due to inadequate health care (if any at all). if the country were to have better health care it would have sources of birth control so pregnancy could be prevented and pre and post natal care so the babies could be adequately cared for (given immunizations, check ups, etc).
as far as wanting to have kids in an impoverished county, kids are a sign of hope for the future. without children many would lose hope and that would be bad.

You can't really place your views on someone else's actions. You don't know what they are thinking. Have you ever seen a couple that are so in love that they would like to have a baby of their own? How many people are so cold and tact that they make decisions solely on logic, completely devoid of emotion? Perhaps their optimism is strong, maybe they need more hands on a farm, maybe they just want a small baby to make their lives a little brighter. Its always easier to say what you would do out side the senario.

I don't think the people starving are reading your question.
Could it be they have no birth control as well as no food?
Do women get to say no in those societies? do the men ask?
There are some people who view children as a source of hope.

Realistically, I think it's because these people have never been educated about it. I know it sounds stupid, and I know it's common sense that you don't have more kids when the ones you have are dying of starvation. But, these people don't have much else to do but have sex, and they were never taught about safe sex, contraception, or even "pulling out". It's very sad, really.

birth control is must for those soscieties.what,s your opinion if people dying with catarina or sunami,s,or by over eating.it,s only mother nature that providing you better life and for them misery. your so called west(four ,five centuries back how much civilsed)

if you can't afford food, you are not liekly to have access to an abortion clinic either. Just cause somebody is hungry doesn't mean that they dont have a libido.
