It is the principle.
Don't lie about it. Talk to your girlfriend and tell her to deal with the fact that you have a friend that she does not like. Tell her that just because she doesn't like something, she can't ask you to lie to her about it - that is a bit childish.

I went through this very same thing. I was the ask er. My boyfriend (Husband now) has a lot of friends a lot of female friends for that matter. I was a very jealous person. It was hard for me to trust. I asked him not to talk to a female in question. He said to me that wasn't fair, he had a lot of history as friends with her. Nothing intimatee but grew up together. It was not right of me to ask him such. I finally came to the understanding I was being unfair. I think it really depends on the person and circumstance surrounding this person you are being asked to set aside. If you have a intimat history I would say yes maybe it would be for the better. Take her feeling into consideration, but don't let her run all your friends away just because there female. It will hurt your relationship. I know

I agree with you about lying. Lies have a way of coming back to haunt you. Your girlfriend sounds very possesive. Not a good thing. If you agree to this now, you are opening yourself up to to all kinds of power struggles in the future. Put your foot down now and stay firm.

First off lies in any relationship tend to cause distrust and if you don't trust someone its time to end the relationship. Secondly I had this happen to me and frankly as much as your going to hate to hear this. Boyfriends/girlfriends come a dime a dozen, friends are hard to come by. I did in fact tell my now ex of many yrs I wasn't talking to a certain someone but he always accused me of it so wtf ever right. I ended the relationship and am much better off because of it. If they are telling you not to talk to someone what is next? Unless you had an affair with the person and that is the reason she is insecure about your relationship I think that's the only reason to stop talking to them.

Absolutely. I think of this as a "power play" on her behalf to be honest. Never, never allow any partner to dictate your morality or your principles. In short, it is about integrity and not getting drawn into her drama. Kindness and respect whenever possible I think. You called it correct. It is lying.

I think either you or your girlfriend is leaving out some details in the situation. She should have at least 2 or more vaild reasons to ask you this, it is quite a big request. And either you weren't listening, you don't see where she's coming from, or she hasn't told you the real reasons why she wants this so badly........

it depends on their reasoning really.. like when you're around this person do you do things that are not healthy for the relationship?
it seems that something happened that triggered that reaction from your girlfriend. what did you do? sounds like a trust issue.
lying is never a good option.

Is there a reason that she doesn't want you to be friends with this particular person? Like if it's an ex that you have a possibility of cheating on her with or if it's a crazy person it's understandable.

Well if you never talk to that friend anyway I think that it would be a good idea to stick with your girlfriend!
Good luck!
